Fix your nose? - Sure, not a problem! All about non-surgical rhinoplasty

According to statistics, almost half of the world's population is dissatisfied with the size, shape or any other parameters of their nose. However, not everyone can decide to undergo plastic surgery. Someone is simply afraid to go under the knife of a surgeon, even an extremely experienced one. Another does not have sufficient funds for this rather expensive operation, especially when the objective defect of the nose is so small that the game, as they say, is not worth the trouble.

In these cases, non-surgical rhinoplasty will help - a service for which today people are increasingly turning to professional cosmetologists. Can non-surgical rhinoplasty be considered an alternative to traditional correction surgery? Does this method have contraindications and in what cases is it powerless? These and other questions are answered by our expert, cosmetologist at the Novoklinik network of aesthetic medicine and cosmetology centers, Isabella Airapetova .

When is non-surgical rhinoplasty used?

Rhinoplasty without surgery is a so-called “off-label” procedure, because any manipulation of the nose is not particularly recommended due to the fact that it contains a large number of vessels. But if it is necessary to correct some minimal changes - for example, slightly raising the tip of the nose or working on, smoothing out a small hump - that is, something for which the patient is not ready to go under the surgeon’s knife, then these small improvements in appearance can be made by a cosmetologist.

“Of course, this method should under no circumstances be considered an alternative to surgical intervention,” says Isabella Airapetova. — An operation is a difficult job inside. Correction of a deviated septum, when some amount of cartilage is removed, bone is crushed, and so on. A cosmetologist cannot do this. And one more thing: classical surgery means changes forever. While non-surgical intervention lasts either a little more than a year, or, if it is correction of the tip of the nose with Botox, then three to four months. Therefore, in some cases, non-surgical intervention is not only powerless, but limited in its capabilities.”

The issue of environmental friendliness

Many consumers are concerned about whether the material from which fabric masks are made is biodegradable. But, unfortunately, not all manufacturers can boast of such an advantage. Global skincare analyst at research firm Mintel David Tyrrell

I am sure that this problem will not be ignored and will be solved in the near future, because many cosmetic corporations are now puzzled by the maximum environmental friendliness of their products.

Basic methods of non-surgical rhinoplasty

The main methods of non-surgical intervention in the nasal area include the injection of botulinum toxin, correction with fillers, and the use of threads.

“From my own experience, I can say that thread alone does not do the job. It needs to be supplemented with botulinum toxin, for example, by weakening the muscle that lowers the nasal septum, or by introducing fillers. After all, the skin on the nose is very thin, and the thread is placed with a notch, which in the future can give an unplanned contour to your nose,” the expert clarified.

Is this temporary?!

“The ingredients in a sheet mask are often the same as those found in a cleanser, toner, serum or moisturizer,” says dermatologist Arash Akhavan, founder of Dermatology and Laser Group.

. For example, hyaluronic acid, known for its moisturizing properties, smoothes fine lines and makes the skin glow. However, this effect can be called ephemeral. “When your skin is hydrated, it naturally looks better. But once she returns to her natural state of hydration, these changes will disappear,” says Akhavan.

Pros and cons of non-surgical rhinoplasty

The advantages of the non-surgical method of nose correction are obvious: firstly, it is very fast. If a surgical operation lasts on average two hours, then a botulinum toxin injection to lift the tip of the nose takes one minute, and correcting a hump will take 15 minutes.

The advantages include the rather long-lasting effect of such plastic surgery, even in comparison with other cosmetic procedures. For example, the same filler applied to the lips and nose behaves completely differently. It can “go away” from the lips in six to eight months, but in the nose it can remain for up to two years. This happens because the lips are more mobile and have very good blood flow. As for fillers, they can last much longer - two or three years.

Among the disadvantages, it should be noted the danger of introducing drugs into the correction area, especially if it was previously injured. This risk always exists. And, of course, there is no one hundred percent guarantee that the cosmetologist will get the result desired by the patient.

“At the same time, if the result is 20–30%, then this is immediately noticeable. We show the patient his profile photo, the changes are obvious, and, of course, the patient is very happy when he sees the transformation, especially if he has had this defect all his life,” adds Isabella Airapetova.

Nose contouring: photo instructions

1

Apply foundation to your nose

The same one you use on the rest of your face. Using concealer on “bare” skin without foundation may look unnatural, since particles of the dark corrector will “get stuck” in the pores or will not blend well, leaving spots.

2

Apply concealer to the sides of your nose

Use a small flat faux bristle brush for this purpose. At the same time, do not follow the natural curves of the nose by outlining them - this will make the nose larger and less straight. Instead, resisting the natural contour of the nose, draw straight lines along the “back” of the nose.

  • At this stage, you can also move the correction towards the eyes (if you need to make the nose visually longer), darken the wings of the nose (to make the nose narrower), emphasize the curves of the nostrils (to give the tip of the nose a more graceful shape), and darken the tip of the nose (if you need to make the nose Briefly speaking). Read more about correcting various nose shapes in the next section.

3

Apply light concealer along the bridge of the nose.

Do not make this line too wide, otherwise the nose after correction will look wider than it actually is. Make sure that all lines are as neat and straight as possible before shading. Uneven lines can create the impression of a crooked nose, while straight lines, on the contrary, can visually make the nose more straight.

The line drawn with a light corrector or highlighter should not be too wide! Otherwise, you will not get a refined, neat silhouette of the nose, but will only expand it further.

4

Use a damp sponge to go over your entire nose.

This step is necessary in order to shade the boundaries of the contour. Use tapping movements and do not forget to wet the sponge first and squeeze it thoroughly. Blend the edges of the light contour first and then move on to the darker edges. Try not to move the drawn lines with sliding movements; instead, tap the applied corrector, as if blurring the boundaries.

If you want to achieve the most natural effect and make the correction invisible, apply a small amount of your foundation onto a sponge before blending. The correction will be under a thin layer of foundation, the effect of a more refined and neat nose will remain, but it will be almost impossible to guess this from the outside.

5

Apply dry highlighter to the bridge of your nose.

Blend it along your nose with a small fluffy eyeshadow brush. Maintain a straight line as any unevenness in application can make the nose appear crooked. If you have a long nose, avoid highlighting the tip of your nose as this will make it appear even more prominent.

How predictable is the result of non-surgical correction?

When it comes to correcting the tip of the nose or straightening a hump, the results are almost always 100% successful. If the effect is not fully achieved, then the situation is almost always corrected by adding fillers, especially since they can be kneaded after injection and carefully distributed. In addition, the cosmetologist must have an antidote, which is administered if something goes wrong, and thus removes the injection of fillers.

Finally, it is worth saying that there is no need to prepare for non-surgical rhinoplasty; there is no need to undergo any special tests. There are no special contraindications in this area of cosmetology, with the exception of general ones: after the administration of botulinum toxin, you should refrain from visiting the sauna and swimming pool, taking antibiotics and alcohol for two weeks. In the case of fillers, the restrictions are the same: the main thing is not to introduce an infection into the small wound left by the cannula.

Time equivalent

Despite the impressive result (albeit temporary), fabric masks can hardly be called an express remedy. The effect of the product can be compared to what a high-quality serum gives, but you don’t need to wait 10-15 minutes after applying it.

"The short time that the mask remains on your face is really not enough for the main active ingredients to penetrate," explains dermatologist Arash Akhavan.
