The healing effect of the spa capsule and indications for use

Electrical stimulation has been successfully used as a physiotherapeutic procedure for over 30 years. Initially, myostimulation was conceived as gymnastics for bedridden patients who do not have the opportunity to receive active physical activity in the usual way. Today, this popular “passive fitness” procedure is actively used in various fields of medicine, and primarily in cosmetology.

Depending on the purpose and purpose of use, SPA capsules differ in size, design and functional features.

Choosing SPA capsules. SPA capsule categories

SPA capsules are divided into two broad categories: dry and wet.

The action of dry spa capsules is usually based on the principle of a dry sauna (that is, warming up the body without the use of water), but is not limited to this. Dry SPA capsules also use the following functions: oxyhyperthermia (exposure to the human body with pure oxygen in combination with body heating), aeroion therapy, chromotherapy, aromatherapy, melotherapy, etc. Dry SPA capsules are equipped with a bed (most often heated and with an additional vibration massage function ) on which the client is located.

The second category of SPA capsules (wet SPA capsules) is functionally based on water procedures. Such capsules (depending on the model and configuration) can allow for full sessions of hydromassage, therapeutic showers, and steam (wet) sauna. Capsules based on the hydrodiffusion principle of operation have become especially popular among wet capsules.

Hydrodiffusion technology in SPA capsules is based on the simultaneous use of two polar principles of thermotherapy to obtain cosmetic effects: a combination of deep heating (up to 4 cm) using infrared radiation and steam exposure. Deeply heated skin is especially sensitive to any impact, and the water film formed on the skin due to the steam sauna dissolves the active substances of cosmetic products, facilitating their penetration into the deeper layers of the skin.

Wet SPA capsules (depending on their functions) can look completely different: both like a bed and like a hydromassage bath (a bowl with a large number of nozzles), the only mandatory condition (as in the case of dry SPA capsules) is that it can be closed cap.

Methodology

Before visiting a spa capsule for medicinal purposes, it is advisable to consult with a supervising physician. The number of sessions required in the spa capsule depends on the patient’s initial condition and desired results. For example, to treat cellulite or solve any skin problems, a course consisting of a combination of various procedures and several sessions is prescribed.

The deeper the problem, the more sessions may be required. To improve your general condition during fatigue and stress, one procedure may be sufficient, which can and should be repeated as necessary.

The procedure in any type of spa capsule is carried out as follows: the patient takes a bath or shower, after which he is placed in a capsule pre-programmed for the required procedure (the time and methods of exposure are programmed).

Most often, the duration of the procedure does not exceed 30 minutes, however, with individually selected specialized programs, the time may increase. Accordingly, the range of effects and drugs used increases. The procedure is developed individually, taking into account the wishes, goals, general physical and psychological condition of the patient.

Types of programs

Clients are offered the following types of programs in spa capsules:

Complex of spa treatments.

It is possible to carry out both a complete spa procedure and its individual stages. This depends both on the patient’s wishes and on the capabilities of the capsule.

Complex of rehabilitation procedures.

Spa capsules are used not only in beauty salons, but also in medical and sports centers, where they are aimed at restoring the body after injuries, helping in the fight against drug and alcohol addiction, and in the complex treatment of various diseases.

Complex of anti-cellulite and weight loss procedures.

They include procedures aimed at losing weight (massage, body wraps, etc.) and procedures that have a cosmetic effect (disappearance of cellulite, stretch marks caused by weight loss). Also, if the additional capabilities of the capsule are used to help you relax and relieve tension, this has a positive effect on eating behavior, and this, in turn, helps to maintain slimness.

Complex of Ayurvedic programs.

For such procedures, capsules are required that have a special additional option in their technical characteristics.

Complexes of wellness treatments for scalp and hair.

Such procedures are aimed primarily at improving the condition of the skin, improving blood microcirculation, which helps solve problems such as hair loss, dandruff, weak, brittle, split ends. The procedures stimulate active hair growth and lead to strengthening of the hair along its entire length.

Session cost

The cost of treatments in spa capsules also varies greatly, as it depends on the time, the number of treatments required, and the excipients (such as aromatic oils and cosmetics) used in the treatments. It depends on the number of additional options chosen by the patient, as well as on the level of popularity of the establishment and the quality of the equipment. Sometimes even on the professionalism and level of demand of the specialist performing the procedure.

Sessions in a spa capsule are becoming increasingly popular, as they help quickly and pleasantly get your body in good shape, improve your health, and lift your spirits.

Main possible functions of dry SPA capsules

Infrared heat/IR sauna

The properties of an infrared sauna are based on the thermal or infrared radiation of special ceramic heaters. The main property of an infrared sauna is that its thermal radiation is as close as possible to the thermal radiation of the human body itself. Thanks to this property of the infrared sauna, heat penetrates deeply and effectively into the tissues. Such soft infrared heat is bioresonant for the internal tissues of a living organism and has a great influence on the processes occurring in them, triggering mechanisms for healing and cleansing the internal environment. Infrared heat is beneficial for the regeneration and restoration of biological objects. Due to deep penetration, infrared heat causes intense sweating.

An infrared sauna affects the potential energy of the body's cells, unbound water leaves them, the activity of specific cellular structures increases, the level of immunoglobulins increases, and infrared radiation also increases the activity of enzymes and estrogens. This applies to all types of body cells and blood. Blood vessels dilate, blood flow accelerates, metabolism and sweating, cell growth and tissue regeneration increase. Thanks to reflex reactions, the infrared sauna has a resolving, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and analgesic effect.

An infrared sauna facilitates skin care and allows for procedures for its revitalization, cleansing and rejuvenation.

Oxygen therapy (Latin oxygenium - oxygen, Greek therapeia - treatment) - the use of oxygen for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes. Reduced oxygen content in the blood and tissues is one of the primary factors in the aging process. In the skin, as in the circulatory and lymphatic systems, in a state of hypoxia, the synthesis of proteins, including collagen and elastin, slows down. To slow down the aging process, the body needs additional oxygenation (forced oxygen saturation). For oxygen therapy in SPA capsules, both pure oxygen and a mixture of it with air or carbon dioxide (5–7%), the so-called carbogen, are used. As a result of the procedure, active oxygen penetrates the body through the skin and has a beneficial effect on the entire body as a whole.

Oxyhyperthermia - the procedure is based on the effect of oxygen on the surface layers of the skin at elevated temperatures. The oxyhyperthermia procedure accelerates metabolic and regeneration processes, enhances cellular activity, and also has an antiseptic effect.

Aeroion therapy (aeroions + Greek therapeia - treatment) is a method of treatment with negatively or positively charged gas ions. Aeroions act on the body mainly reflexively through receptors located in the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract and in the skin. Of great importance is not only the sign of the electrical charge of the air ion, but also the chemical nature of its carrier. The therapeutically effective factor for negatively charged air ions is considered to be negatively charged oxygen, and for positively charged air ions - positively charged carbon dioxide (carbon dioxide).

Chromotherapy is treatment with color. This method involves applying color (a directed light beam) to a selected area or active point of the body. In cosmetology, chromotherapy is used to enhance the effects of cosmetic preparations applied to the skin.

Aromatherapy is the use of volatile substances, including essential oils and plant phytoncides, for physical and psychological healing.

The use of aromatic herbs for treatment and perfumery has been known since ancient times. The therapeutic effect of aromatherapy is due to the effect of odors on the limbic system of the brain*. This effect is closely related to emotions and is used in psychotherapy.

Aromatherapy produces various therapeutic effects, such as: mental (psychotherapeutic effects), antiseptic, vegetative (vasodilating effects), metabolic (antioxidant, immunostimulating effects). And therefore, naturally, aromatherapy is widely used in SPA technologies.

Melotherapy is a philosophical and medical system that uses the laws of nature in the treatment and restoration of a person. One of the therapy methods is music therapy. The effect of music on a person is one of the oldest methods of treatment. Music affects the mind, affects the acceleration and deceleration of the pulse. This property of music is, as a rule, used in spa treatments. With the help of melody, they soothe pain, distract, put clients to sleep, provide aesthetic pleasure, normalize breathing and blood circulation, relieve fatigue and restore vigor.

Halotherapy is a technique in which the healing microclimate of natural salt caves is recreated in a SPA capsule. The main operating factor is the saturation of the air with microparticles of salt (haloaerosol) in a certain concentration. Due to its special physical properties, haloaerosol affects many factors that cause diseases of the respiratory system, ENT organs, skin, autonomic nervous system, and also creates a unique environment free of allergens and microbes.

Sessions in a salt SPA capsule are recommended not only for people with health problems, but also for prevention and improvement of quality of life, since after preventive courses of halotherapy, ARVI, acute bronchopulmonary diseases, and exacerbations of chronic diseases are less likely to occur.

Vibration therapy (Latin vibrare - pump, oscillate + Greek therapeia - treatment) - the use of low-frequency mechanical vibrations for therapeutic purposes. The flow of nerve impulses resulting from alternating compression and stretching of tissues through neuroendocrine mechanisms causes a number of reactions in the body, which are used for therapeutic purposes to improve the functional state of the central nervous system, local blood circulation, metabolic processes, increase tone, and obtain an analgesic effect. The severity of the body's reactions to the effects of vibration and their nature depend on the location, area, intensity of the impact, the initial functional state of the body and other conditions. At an oscillation frequency of 50 Hz or less, vasodilation occurs and blood pressure decreases, and at a frequency of 100 Hz, vasoconstriction occurs, heart rate increases, and blood pressure increases. Vibration therapy is used as an independent medical procedure and as one of the types of massage - vibromassage.

Therapy methods and adaptations

Vibration therapy is divided into two types according to the method of influence:

1) General – the effect of mechanical vibrations on the entire body.

This type of procedure is used in medical institutions. This is due to the large size of the massage devices.

These include:

  • Goff's bicycle.
  • Vibrating chair.
  • Magnetic vibration couches, platforms.

Vibromassage using such equipment should be carried out under the supervision of a medical professional.

2) Local vibration therapy is a local effect on certain areas of the skin.

This device is recommended for massage in beauty salons at home, etc. The equipment is divided into two types: hydromassage and manual, mounted on the body.

The operating mode is determined taking into account the choice of device for massage. Before starting the procedure, it is necessary to establish the basic parameters of vibration exposure:

  • Amplitude.
  • Frequency.
  • Selecting a nozzle (for a manual device only) for more effective treatment of the painful area.
  • Temperature.

In vibration therapy, two methods of using a massager are used:

1) Labile.

The massager continuously moves around the body in a circular motion. The duration of the procedure is 7-20 minutes, it depends on the disease and its severity. The course is prescribed by the attending physician; as a rule, it includes 10-15 sessions.

2) Stable.

The massager is securely fixed for 1-2 minutes. exclusively in one part of the body, after which it is moved to another area. This method is currently used quite rarely.

Vibration therapy includes the use of special devices:

  • Acupressure vibration massage. This method consists of effective exposure to mechanical vibrations with a frequency of 100 Hz.
  • Household vibrating massager. The massage is carried out using a manual massage device. Its use is recommended in combination with other types of massage.
  • Hydromassage. This method is one of the most effective and is possible with the help of special vibration baths. The duration of the procedure is 10-15 minutes.

The benefits of vibration therapy are obvious and enormous. This confirms the long-term use of this physiotherapeutic procedure. Its success and widespread use are due to its high efficiency, accessibility and ability to be combined with other therapeutic techniques.

Today there are many massagers with different parametric characteristics. Therefore, you can easily choose a device that is ideal for treating various ailments.

Main possible functions of wet SPA capsules

Hydromassage is a massage performed by a water stream. This is a procedure for targeted therapeutic effects on the human body using jets of water supplied under pressure. You can adjust the flow of jets according to intensity and modify the shape of the flow by modifying the nozzles. Hydromassage is a popular component of effective treatment programs for metabolic disorders, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, many internal organs, and pathologies of the peripheral nervous system.

Healing souls. A shower is characterized by the fact that during this procedure the body is exposed to a stream of water of varying intensity, temperature and pressure. The specific effect of application depends on the strength of water pressure, its temperature, and the duration of the procedure. Based on the shape of the jets, rain, needle, dust, jet, circular and ascending showers are distinguished. By water temperature: cold, indifferent, warm, hot and shower with variable temperature. Water pressure during healing showers can be low (0.3–1 atmosphere), medium (1.5–2 atmospheres) and high (3–4 atmospheres).

A shower can excite or calm the nervous system, relieve spasms, improve metabolic processes, increase the body's defenses, and train the cardiovascular and muscular systems of the body. In SPA capsules the following are most often used: Vichy shower, circular, underwater massage shower.

The Vichy shower is a douche shower. In its action, this shower resembles heavy rain. Within 20 minutes of the procedure, gas exchange in tissues improves, the skin is saturated with a sufficient amount of oxygen, blood flow in the capillaries and lymph drainage in small lymphatic vessels improves. This type of shower has a gentle lymphatic drainage effect, stimulates, calms, and helps fight stress.

Circular showers are medium pressure showers. The patient is exposed to a large number of thin jets of water, applied sequentially to areas along the vertebrae and shoulder girdle, the lateral surfaces of the torso, and legs. This shower has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system and improves blood supply to the skin.

Hand shower – this option allows the spa operator to perform manual hydromassage and the final rinse of masks and medicinal components applied to the client’s body. In addition, the presence of a hand shower makes it more convenient to hygienically treat the surface of the bed before and after the procedure.

Steam (wet) sauna. Steam is a catalyst for healing processes, improving skin permeability, as well as creating a comfortable environment during the procedure. By creating a wet film, steam maintains constant moisture in the masks applied to the client’s body during the spa treatment process. This stimulates sweating, promotes the rapid transfer of the active ingredients of the mask to the upper layers of the dermis and the sorption of released toxins. In this case, the steam temperature is regulated in the range of up to +48 degrees Celsius.

Spray. Some models have a unique system built into the capsule to apply active ingredients to the client's skin in the form of a spray. A special container is filled with a solution, which is sprayed inside the capsule in microscopic droplets, similar to fog. Spray solutions can contain both water-soluble and finely divided ingredients, such as vitamins, minerals, etc. Moreover, this system can even be used for self-tanning procedures. Switching on is usually done from the control panel by pressing a touch key.

What dictates the set of functions of a particular SPA capsule? Mainly - the marketing position of the manufacturer for a particular capsule model, which ultimately affects its price.

Possible additional options:

  • Germicidal lamp – disinfects the air inside the capsule and ensures hygienic cleanliness of procedures.
  • Monitor. The presence of a monitor makes it possible to occupy a hyperactive client who may find relaxing in a SPA capsule boring.
  • Blowing on the face. In some cases it’s just nice.
  • Luminescent light dome. This option is available in models from many manufacturers. Typically, the capsule's dome is made of a translucent, smoky material that constantly changes color to reflect external light or the glow of a built-in monochrome light source. This creates a stunning visual effect, captivating the client with the unusualness of what is happening.

The dimensions of the SPA capsules are similar to those of a solarium: 2 meters in length, about 1 meter in height and width. SPA capsules have a special headrest, or “cap,” in which a breathing device is built in to prevent the client from breathing in hot air. Wet SPA capsules are more massive than dry ones. In addition, their installation requires the provision of water communications.
