Contour plastic with fillers based on hyaluronic acid Juvederm Voluma, Volift, Volbella

It is always better to trust the choice of fillers for contour plastic surgery to a doctor: a cosmetologist will navigate the variety of products and advise the most suitable one in a particular case. However, it would be useful to have at least a general idea of the most popular brands of fillers - Juvederm (USA) and Restylane (Sweden).

Both brands of fillers are used for contouring and have much in common. Using a needle or blunt cannula, they are inserted under the skin and create volume exactly where it is needed. This way you can enlarge your lips, correct facial asymmetry, make your cheekbones more expressive and prominent, correct your chin and angles of your lower jaw, smooth out wrinkles and tighten your skin.

With age, the fat layer on the face becomes thinner, resulting in the formation of excess skin that accumulates in wrinkles and folds. There is a shift in the fat packets of the face, which changes the subtle features of youth to a tired, fading face. Filler injections replenish lost volumes, resulting in smoother skin and a younger-looking face.

Juvederm and Restylane are gels based on stabilized hyaluronic acid . This is a completely biocompatible substance with unique moisturizing properties.

Gels are characterized by increased plasticity; they retain the desired shape and do not dissolve for a long time, and are then removed from the body naturally. There is virtually no risk of allergic reactions.

The introduction of fillers is a low-traumatic process. Long-term rehabilitation is not required: small punctures heal in a couple of days.

Thus, Juvederm and Restylane fillers have a lot in common. Now let's talk about the differences.

Texture

Perhaps the main difference between Juvederm and Restylane fillers is the consistency of the gels . Juvederm has a "smooth texture". Fillers of the Restylane group have a dense consistency, providing excellent lifting and creating volume. Thanks to NASHA technology, a firmer gel is obtained compared to other hyaluronic acid fillers. In practice, this means that Restylane fillers are more securely fixed at the injection site and do not migrate due to their high adhesiveness - good adhesion to tissues. Preparations of this brand are better suited for increasing volume, especially since the gels are very plastic and easily take the required shape.

Juvederm fillers, in turn, will be a good solution for smoothing out fine wrinkles, including in delicate areas, such as the eye area. Thanks to VYCROSS technology, the American manufacturer managed to achieve the most smooth, silky structure.

With the help of such gels, you can perform the most jewelry work without fear that the result will look unnatural, but also in the line of these drugs there are excellent voluminizers and a new product is the drug Volux, which has unique features that allow you to create a clear oval face and chin.

What is Juvederm made from?

Each product in this family is made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that accumulates naturally in the skin but begins to decrease as we age. It can retain water, so it is an important element for moisturizing the skin. Thus, when its production slows down, the skin can become dry and lose elasticity.

Because this molecule is already a natural component of skin biology, adverse reactions are rare. When they occur, the cause is usually other ingredients in the product, such as lidocaine. They are well tolerated, so Juvederm 4 and other hyaluronic acid products are suitable for almost everyone.

The molecules are modified using patented Vycross technology. By binding smaller and heavier HA molecules, this process results in a stronger, longer-lasting acid formula. Thanks to this, the products resist breakdown in the body and last almost twice as long as other drugs.

Because the technology tightly binds molecules of different weights, the resulting gel is stable and is not lost once injected into the skin. The higher the percentage of HA, the thicker the gel and the longer the product lasts. Over time, these long-term benefits promote rapid healing and skin resistance to UV and environmental damage.

Areas of use

The lines of both brands contain fillers designed to correct different areas. They differ in density, plasticity, texture. For example, Juvederm Voluma is designed to enlarge the cheekbones, Juvederm Volbella is optimal for adding additional volume to the lips, Juvederm Vollift is designed to eliminate nasolabial folds, Juvederm Volux is unique for creating the chin and angles of the lower jaw.

In the same cases, Restylane can also be used, but drugs of this brand are especially suitable for correcting the perioral area, cheeks and nose. Restylane fillers are also good for filling volume deficits on the back of the hands.

The Restylane family also includes fillers with different characteristics, designed to correct specific areas. Thus, Restylane Lip Volume is intended for lip augmentation, Restylane Perline for eliminating nasolabial folds, Restylane SubQ for the chin and facial contours.

ADVANTAGES OF USING THE DRUG

Juvederm VOLUX quickly managed to win the love of cosmetologists and patients due to its exceptional properties. Among the advantages, I would especially like to note the following:

  • The effect of the contouring procedure lasts on average up to 18 months or longer due to the improved cohesive properties of the drug.
  • The developed formula with increased homogeneity and density allows for successful correction of the lower third of the face.
  • The drug contains lidocaine, which guarantees unconditional patient comfort throughout the entire procedure.

Effect

When using fillers of both brands, volumes increase, and the skin smoothes and becomes elastic. However, the results of using Juvederm and Restylane usually require about two weeks to see the final effect of the drug.

In both cases, the result lasts for an average of 9-12 months. The duration of this period is influenced not only and not so much by the characteristics of the fillers, but by the areas of drug administration, the patient’s metabolism and her lifestyle. Some enjoy the results within one and a half to two years, while for others the effect becomes less noticeable after 7-8 months. It is believed that Restylane fillers have a prolonged effect, but it all depends on the specific drug chosen and the individual characteristics of the patient.

Exposure to high temperatures and ultraviolet radiation, as well as active sports, promote the resorption of fillers.

Of course, this does not mean that after contouring you can’t go to the sauna or go for a run - you just need to keep in mind that such rest does not help maintain the results for a long time.

Indications for administration of the gel

As already mentioned, the Juvederm Wolfit filler is intended, first of all, to correct the shape of the face in those places where there is a lack of soft tissue.

Usually we are talking about cheekbones, chin and, of course, lips. With this gel you can not only enlarge your lips, but also correct their shape.

INDICATIONS

  • excessive dryness of the skin;
  • transverse wrinkles on the forehead and in the bridge of the nose of varying degrees;
  • "crow's feet";
  • nasolabial folds;
  • wrinkles on the neck.

All these problems are easily solved by subcutaneous injections of Juvederm Vofit.

Contraindications (6 prohibitions)

Any beauty procedure has certain contraindications. This also applies to the Juviderm Volift filler. True, it does not have many contraindications, and, nevertheless, they exist.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  1. infectious or bacterial infections;
  2. inflammation on the skin of the face;
  3. oncology;
  4. autoimmune diseases;
  5. blood clotting disorder;
  6. tendency to form colloidal scars and scars.

In addition, contraindications include pregnancy and lactation, hypersensitivity to the components of the injection, as well as age under 18 years.

If you have ever had a strep infection, you may also want to avoid the injection.

Please note that Juviderm Volift should not be injected into the eye area. The skin around the eyes is very thin and delicate, and the bluish tint of the filler may show through.

If the drug is injected into too deep layers of the skin, swelling may form.

Procedure and rehabilitation

Preparations of both brands may contain lidocaine, making the injection of fillers almost painless. (Long-term effectiveness, safety of Juvéderm®). Additionally, topical anesthesia can be used.

The procedure takes a minimum of time (about 30-45 minutes depending on the area and number of injections) and can be performed during a lunch break.

In both cases, no rehabilitation is required; you can immediately return to your daily activities. For a short time you will have to give up thermal treatments, massage and sports, and it is also important to protect your face from ultraviolet radiation.

Composition of the product

Juviderm Volift contains:

  • hyaluronic acid with low molecular weight and smooth structure, it makes up 90% of the total volume of the drug;
  • lidocaine;
  • phosphate buffer.

The low weight of the acid molecule allows it to be quickly and evenly distributed throughout the deep layers of the skin.

Thanks to the phosphate buffer, hyaluron is stabilized, which protects it from rapid decay.

Hyaluronic acid for injection is synthesized in the laboratory from a strain of streptococcus, which does not pose any danger to the human body. But thanks to this method of synthesis, the acid turns out to be absolutely biocompatible. It almost never causes allergic reactions.

This technique is called Vycross. Allergan developed this technology and patented it.

Juviderm Volift injection affects the condition of the skin not only by filling the subcutaneous layers. Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, penetrating into the deep layers of the skin, has another effect.

It simulates your own skin processes, the synthesis of elastin and collagen, rejuvenating the face from the inside. Thus, the Juvederm Wolfit filler not only corrects the oval of the face, but also improves its color, moisturizes the skin, and makes it more youthful.

Due to the presence of lidocaine, the filler can be administered without additional anesthesia. In this case, the anesthetic effect occurs much faster than from other painkillers.

The phosphate buffer stabilizes hyaluronic acid and prevents it from breaking down too quickly. However, Juviderm Volift is a biodegradable gel. Over time, it breaks down and is eliminated from the body naturally.

Possible negative consequences

There are usually no complications after a Juvederm Wolfit injection. However, some negative consequences are possible.

Sometimes the skin at the puncture site becomes red and swollen. It also happens that nodules and compactions form in this place. However, all this goes away within a week at most.

If after this time the violations do not disappear, you must contact a specialist.

Also, in rare cases, an allergic reaction to one of the components of the drug occurs. However, this happens extremely rarely. None of the components of the drug are allergens.

It is very important that the procedure is performed by a qualified specialist with medical education. Otherwise, errors may occur. For example, contact with blood vessels can cause blockage.

Before the session it is forbidden to drink alcohol or smoke.
