Fruit peeling is a peeling using fruit acids. The advantages of this procedure are efficiency and safety. In addition, this peeling can be called quite cheap among other types.
Fruit peeling
This article will tell you about fruit peeling in more detail, and will also answer all the popular questions regarding this procedure.
What is fruit peeling?
A few years ago, the beneficial properties of using fruit acids were noted. Previously, the substances were used in other areas of medicine, but after a significant period of time, cosmetologists also found use for these substances.
In another way, these substances are also called AHA acids. A similar abbreviation comes from the word alphahydroxy acids, with the help of which it is obtained:
- brighten the face;
- eliminate defects in the form of excessive pigmentation;
- even out the color.
With the help of fruit acids you can get rid of various skin problems
In addition, scientists have proven that the use of AHA acids in cosmetology leads to the prevention of natural signs of aging. Such signs often include the appearance of wrinkles and loss of skin tone.
What is it struggling with?
In addition to the defects listed earlier, peeling with fruit acids combats other serious problems. Expression wrinkles, grooves and folds are removed with highly concentrated products. Hyperkeratosis (keratinization) will also recede, the tissues will soften from lactic acid and the removal of rough skin. In spring, when freckles are especially prominent, you can lighten them a little. Loss of graceful facial contour and decreased tone are another target for the active components of the product.
A little about peeling
Basically, cosmetologists recommend applying for the procedure to people who have problems such as:
- acne;
- acne;
- post-acne.
With the help of fruit peeling you can get rid of post-acne
Thanks to this peeling, the effect of using acids will be noticeable after just a few procedures. The fact is that the substances have quite strong anti-inflammatory properties. They penetrate the skin tissue, killing bacteria and infections that cause rashes on the face.
As for the cost of the procedure, you will need to pay, as a rule, no more than 1000 rubles for one session if the peeling is carried out in a standard or small cosmetology clinic. If we are talking about larger centers specializing in the use of modern drugs and devices, the price for the procedure can rise to several thousand rubles.
The cost of the procedure may vary depending on various factors
Indications
As for indications, peeling is suitable for almost every skin type, and the procedure can be performed at any age. For teenagers, the use of fruit acids will help get rid of the signs of adolescence - acne. Also, with the help of the procedure it will be possible to eliminate the scars left behind by acne.
Mature people can resort to fruit peeling to slow down the signs of aging. Additionally, the procedure can be used to get rid of excess skin pigmentation.
Fruit acids help get rid of skin pigmentation
In most cases, peeling is prescribed by the attending physician if the patient complains about the condition of the facial skin. Sometimes we can talk about a one-time procedure, rather than a whole course, and this feature is also an advantage of fruit peeling.
Below is a table that shows the classification of possible skin problems and the required number of sessions depending on how old the client is.
Age | Problems | Number of procedures |
From 15 to 25 years | The occurrence of acne, enlarged pores, excess fat in tissues, peeling | The course consists of 10 procedures, the interval between which must be at least 2 weeks. |
From 25 to 30 years | The appearance of the first signs of aging - wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, manifestation of pigmentation | The course contains 4 procedures, each recommended once a year. |
From 35 to 45 years | Pronounced signs of aging, loss of skin color, extensive pigmentation | The course includes up to 5 procedures, the interval between which must be at least 1.5 months. |
From 45 to 60 years | Severe wrinkles, unhealthy skin color, sagging | The course consists of 5 procedures. |
The number of sessions may vary depending on the patient’s age and skin characteristics
Contraindications
Among the contraindications are:
- viral diseases;
- disruption of the body's immune system;
- the presence of bruises, cuts, wounds in the area that needs to be treated;
- manifestation of an allergic reaction;
- mental disorders;
- intolerance or high sensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
This procedure also has contraindications.
Important! It is also not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women to undergo the procedure.
Contraindications for use
Despite the fact that fruit peeling is considered a relatively soft and gentle procedure, it, like other cosmetic procedures, has contraindications. Among them:
- pregnancy and lactation;
- inflammatory processes in the body, diseases in the acute stage;
- allergy to one of the components;
- the presence of mechanical damage – wounds, scratches – on the treated area of the skin.
In addition, to reduce exposure to ultraviolet rays, a course of chemical peeling should be carried out only in the autumn-winter period. Those with very dry skin should use this procedure with caution.
How is peeling performed?
To achieve maximum effect, several fruit peeling treatments may be required. The number of sessions can be up to 8. In this case, the interval between each procedure should be more than a week. The effectiveness of peeling depends on the concentration of acids used to carry out the procedure. At first, cosmetologists use small concentrations of preparations so that the skin gets used to the penetration of acid into it.
The number of procedures can be up to eight
Note! During subsequent procedures, the acid concentration will increase gradually.
If desired, fruit peeling can be done at home. But it is worth considering that procedures should be performed only using high-quality cosmetic products. To purchase one, you need to contact cosmetologists or specialized stores.
This procedure can be carried out at home, but only using high-quality products.
Peeling stages
First of all, the cosmetologist prepares the skin for peeling. Preparation consists of removing makeup and completely clearing the pores of impurities. To do this, the cosmetologist uses gul or foam.
Then the main peeling composition, in the form of a gel, is applied to the face. The composition is selected based on the client's skin type. The gel applied to the face is left for ten minutes, then washed off with warm, purified water.
Pre-cleanse the skin
Next, the cosmetologist treats the skin with a tonic and applies a product that neutralizes the effect of the acid. If desired, you can also use a soothing mask.
It is worth noting that immediately after peeling it is not recommended to be exposed to direct sunlight. Before leaving the cosmetologist, you need to treat your face with a soothing cream, the composition of which contains UV filters that prevent the formation of sunburn.
After the procedure, the skin is treated with a soothing and protective cream
Nuances to consider
First of all, it is worth saying that fruit peeling is one of the safest procedures. After it, a person will not feel much discomfort, and only in rare cases may itching or slight tingling occur. Most often, such symptoms appear in people with sensitive skin.
This procedure is considered safe
Also possible consequences include the formation of pigment spots. This is caused by sun exposure to damaged skin, so cosmetologists either treat or recommend treating the face with sunscreen after peeling.
The essence of exfoliation
When using a ready-made composition with a low acid content (surface exfoliation), you can safely perform the procedure yourself. There are many similar drugs adapted for home use.
To perform the intervention, you simply need to apply the active composition to the cleaned surface, wait the amount of time indicated in the instructions for the product, rinse the substance with water, and apply a moisturizer. Even weak peelings are not neutralized.
The option indicated above is suitable if you want to thoroughly cleanse the skin and maintain the quality of tissues in good condition (prevention of various problems). If you want to eliminate a certain deficiency, you will have to perform a deeper impact. It is not recommended to do this option yourself.
How does acid affect the skin?
In short, the use of acids leads to burns of the upper layer of the epidermis. This sounds scary, but there is nothing to be afraid of. Due to the formation of burns, the active production of new cells begins, which leads to an improvement in complexion and overall skin condition.
Classifications and composition of fruit peeling
There are 2 main classifications of fruit peeling.
- The first considers the means from the type of acid used.
- The second indicates the depth of exposure of the substance to the skin.
Based on the data obtained, the cosmetologist selects a suitable drug and carries out a procedure that eliminates possible problems.
The doctor will select the necessary remedy
Below is a list that describes the main types of acids used for peeling.
- Wine. It is found in old wine or in fruits such as oranges and grapes. The action of tartaric acid is aimed at exfoliating old dead cells and moisturizing the skin.
- Lemon. This acid can be found in almost all citrus fruits, which include lemon, grapefruit, etc. The effect is represented by skin whitening. Penetrating inside, the acid also kills various infections that cause skin defects.
- Apple. Surprisingly, it is found not only in apples. Found in tomatoes, grapes, raspberries. With its help, the stratum corneum of the skin is exfoliated and damaged cells are regenerated.
- Glycolic. Found in sugar beets and green grapes. Thanks to glycolic acid, you can eliminate age spots and even out your complexion.
- Dairy. Found in all fermented milk products. Also found in some fruits, such as apples. It helps moisturize the skin and remove pigmentation.
Different types of acids are used
The following types of peeling are distinguished depending on the depth of acid exposure:
- surface;
- median;
- deep.
The most popular is superficial peeling, since the result after such a procedure is noticeable almost immediately. In other cases, the result appears gradually and only after several procedures.
There are several types of peeling depending on the depth of exposure
Who is it suitable for?
The surprising thing is that the method is universal and suitable for women of any age. Girls will refresh their skin tone and enjoy self-care. Older women will definitely try to restore youth and tighten problem areas. Old cells provoke various cosmetic defects, which are removed along with the stratum corneum.
Indications
1. Relief disturbances
The surface is uneven, unusual roughness is noticeable, the pores are overly enlarged. They get clogged with dust and rashes appear.
2.Color change
Characterized by dullness, a tint of blue. Improper distribution of melanin provokes the appearance of age spots.
3. Rashes
There is a periodic appearance of pimples and rashes, acne, and its consequences. But fruit facial peeling will easily eliminate problems and correct imperfections. Especially if you complete the entire course.
Result
After the procedure, the following results are noted:
- improvement of complexion;
- smoothness of the skin;
- disappearance of age spots;
- improving skin elasticity;
- disappearance of facial wrinkles.
After the procedure, facial skin becomes better
Note! Unfortunately, peeling based on fruit acids cannot cope with global problems, which include deep wrinkles or loss of facial shape. Also, with the help of such a procedure it will not be possible to completely tighten the skin or eliminate all scars.
Preparatory stage
The use of light products based on fruit acids, intended for home use, does not require preliminary preparation of the skin. In any case, compositions with aggressive components should not be used on irritated, inflamed, damaged skin. The procedures are not performed on skin with a fresh tan.
Before performing professional exfoliation, the cosmetologist will suggest preparing the skin to obtain a more effective, predictable result. For 7–10 days, cosmetics containing a low percentage of acids are included in your regular care. This will help soften the rough surface.
Skin care
After the procedure, it is recommended to provide thorough skin care, namely:
- lubricate your face with products containing UV filters. Usually these are creams;
- refuse to visit baths and saunas for one month;
- put aside scrubs, refuse mechanical facial cleansing;
- do not visit solariums, do not sunbathe in the sun;
- stop using film masks for two months;
- Stop using alcohol-containing products for a month.
After the procedure, it is important to carefully care for your skin.
Also, you should not eat harmful foods during the first week after peeling.
What affects the effectiveness of the procedure
The effectiveness of the cleansing is influenced by several main factors. These are the frequency of conduction, the concentration of the product used and the exposure time (exposure). Let's take a closer look at them.
Frequency
As already mentioned, fruit peelings are carried out in courses. The frequency of sessions is determined by the cosmetologist, based on the age and condition of the skin, as well as the result after the first procedure.
The number of procedures in a full course usually varies between 7–15 peels with an interval of 10–14 days. If you have minor problems or peeling is performed for preventive purposes, then you can get by with fewer sessions:
- for patients under 25 years of age with problematic skin types, comedones and blackheads on the face, 1–2 procedures per month are sufficient;
- for patients 25–30 years old, to prevent early aging of the integument, it is recommended to perform 2–3 procedures per year;
- for ages 30–45 years, you need to complete a full course of 4–6 procedures, and then preventive measures every 1–1.5 months;
- for mature skin 45+, fruit cleansing is suitable only as a preparatory step for deep peelings or plastic surgery.
Concentration and exposure time
The concentration of the acidic product and its composition are selected by the cosmetologist after determining the skin type and the degree of the problem. The more complex the problem and the higher the age of the patient, the more intense the impact required.
It is also worth noting that a high concentration of acid lengthens the rehabilitation period and complicates its course, increasing the requirements for the patient’s health and the professionalism of the cosmetologist.
Use at home in concentrations above 15% may be dangerous. Improper use of an acid composition can result in chemical burns and complications.
The duration of exposure to the acid composition depends on the condition and type of skin and is selected individually. If you leave acid on your face, it can cause significant harm to the patient. That is why it is recommended to trust only professionals with extensive experience in cosmetic procedures of this kind.
Side effects
In general, clients tolerate fruit peeling well. No one experiences any painful sensations during or after the procedure; only occasionally a person may feel a slight burning sensation of the skin.
However, it is still worth talking about the risk of side effects. In addition, if you look at the reviews of those who have already used the procedure, you will notice that among a small number of patients there were still people who experienced some unpleasant consequences.
Side effects are very rare
Basically, side effects include an allergic skin reaction to any of the components of the drug or the formation of minor burns. Such troubles happen quite rarely, and they are associated with the concentration of the drug, skin type and the skill of the cosmetologist who performs the procedure.
To avoid side effects, it is recommended to follow the advice of a cosmetologist, as well as ensure proper skin care during the rehabilitation period.
To avoid side effects, you must strictly follow your doctor's recommendations.
Precautionary measures
Fruit peeling cannot be performed if the cosmetologist identifies contraindications:
- allergies to substances in the cosmetics used;
- irritation, damage, inflammation on the integument;
- exacerbation of the herpes virus;
- fungus, other diseases requiring preliminary treatment;
- fresh tan;
- active course of chronic or general diseases.
In some cases (pregnancy, lactation, the presence of diabetes, problems with the heart, blood vessels, oncology), the cosmetologist makes an individual decision on the advisability of intervention. Most often, the doctor will offer a light peeling (low acid content) and select options for home treatments.
Side effects from interventions with fruit acid products are rare. Erythema, swelling, peeling, and moderate itching may occur. Burns and allergic reactions occur rarely. After the procedure, there is a high probability of herpes rashes, a short-term aggravation of the presence of acne.
Preparatory and rehabilitation periods
First, it’s worth considering how to prepare for fruit peeling. The preparatory period is that for two weeks before visiting a cosmetologist, it is recommended to avoid visiting the solarium or the beach. It is also worth stocking up on skin care products, which include various creams, tonics, and foams.
The need to use such cosmetics is explained by their composition. Thanks to the components contained in them, it will be possible to prepare the epidermis for fruit peeling.
It is necessary to prepare the skin for the procedure
It has already been noted that, if desired, you can perform peeling at home without visiting a beauty salon. However, it is better to use the services of an experienced cosmetologist. If necessary, the specialist can offer an alternative service that is more suitable for eliminating a particular problem. For example, retinoic peeling can be a replacement for fruit peeling.
As for the rehabilitation period, during this time you should avoid visiting swimming pools, baths, and saunas. You will also regularly need to treat your skin with special creams, the composition of which includes substances that can fight UV radiation.
During the rehabilitation period, you need to regularly treat the skin with protective agents.
If edema, swelling of the skin or pain were noted during rehabilitation, you should immediately seek help from a cosmetologist or doctor.
Peeling depth
Based on the depth of impact, peelings are divided into:
- Superficial - affects only the uppermost stratum corneum of the epidermis
- Median - affects the middle layers of the epidermis
- Deep - affects all layers of the epidermis down to the papillary layer of the dermis
Superficial peels are the most popular. After such peelings, there are practically no complications and there is no need to sit at home for one or two weeks, waiting for redness, swelling or severe peeling to go away.
Popular questions
Is it possible to get rid of pronounced dark circles under the eyes using peeling?
No, peeling will not help here. In this case, it is recommended to turn to procedures or services such as contouring and mesotherapy. Blepharoplasty or eyelid correction can also cope with a similar task.
Acne left scars on the face. Can I get rid of them if I use fruit peeling?
Fruit peeling improves the condition of the skin, but it is unlikely to cope with severe scars left by acne. It is better to use, for example, TCA peeling for this. Some cosmetologists also recommend laser resurfacing services.
Severe scars will not be completely eliminated with fruit peeling
Does fruit peeling eliminate wrinkles in the eye area?
The use of fruit peeling in this area serves to improve skin regeneration. In this case we are talking about superficial peeling. Unfortunately, fruit acid cannot get rid of wrinkles. Botox mainly copes with this.
It will not be possible to completely get rid of wrinkles - only partially
Rehabilitation period
There are no special rules for care; the skin will cope with recovery on its own. Exfoliation of dead cells occurs imperceptibly, their renewal contributes to a healthy complexion and moderate shine. But if you want to improve your appearance, add the usual cosmetics, and besides it, sunscreen will come in handy. The SPF marking on a cream or lotion should be at least 30; sun and tanning in a solarium should also be avoided.
Cosmetics with an acid content of more than 15% cannot be used: it will cause a burn of the skin, possible blisters, scars after them, persistent erythema, discoloration.
The tissues will need nutrition and hydration; it is better to purchase a special post-peeling cream.

Fruit peeling at home
As already mentioned, a similar procedure is allowed at home. But only for this purpose it is worth purchasing professional products recommended by a cosmetologist or other specialist in the field of peeling procedures.
For example, a good product for fruit peeling would be a cream that contains the necessary acids from the New line series. Reviews about the drug are mostly positive, so there are no doubts about its use.
New line cream
Important! Also, when it comes to peeling at home, it is recommended to choose products with the lowest concentration so as not to cause severe skin burns.
Sequencing
Performing peeling at home involves several stages.
- Preparation. In this case, we are talking about cleansing the skin of cosmetics. To do this, it will be enough to use a gel that contains alcohol.
- Applying the mixture. You need to keep the product on for about a quarter of an hour so that it has time to absorb into the top layer of the skin.
- Wash. After time, the mask is washed off with warm water.
The procedure must be carried out in several stages
Additionally, you can wipe the skin with a piece of ice and apply a nourishing cream.
Fruit peeling recipes
If you do not have the funds to purchase specialized products, you can try to create a peeling product from ordinary products. However, it is worth taking into account that the use of home remedies will not cause the same effect that can be achieved in salons. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect anything unusual from home peeling.
Peeling with lemon
To prepare this product you will need:
- lemon juice;
- olive and rosehip oil.
You can make an exfoliant using lemon
All ingredients are taken in equal proportions and poured into a container, which is subsequently placed on fire. After warming the mixture a little, it must be applied to the face. Application is usually done using a cotton pad or small brush. The composition lasts for about ten minutes. Then it must be washed off.
Peeling with orange
For preparation you will need:
- crushed orange;
- ground coffee – 1 tbsp;
- honey – 1 tbsp.
They also make a remedy with orange
A tablespoon of crushed citrus is mixed with the remaining ingredients, and the product is applied with massaging movements. The mixture is kept for no more than ten minutes. After time, the composition is washed off with water.
Tropical peeling
The ingredients will be:
- banana;
- a pineapple;
- kiwi.
You can also do a “tropical” peeling
The ingredients must be cleaned and placed in a blender for grinding. The resulting composition is carefully applied to the face and left for ten minutes. Then the mixture must be washed off.
Popular masks for home use
In addition to folk recipes, it is also worth mentioning products that can also be used for peeling at home.
- Drug Cora. Judging by the numerous positive reviews, this peeling helps eliminate skin defects, reduces pores and oily skin. However, cosmetologists do not recommend resorting to such a product for women whose skin is quite sensitive.
Drug Bark - Skinlite. A product whose effects will help achieve velvety and soft epidermis. Suitable for almost all skin types.
Skinlite - Janssen Inspira M.F.A. It is considered a professional product, so it can also be found when visiting a salon. With its help you can smooth out imperfections, make the skin more delicate and soft.
Janssen Inspira M.F.A.
Despite such a variety of recipes for making fruit peeling products at home, cosmetologists still recommend using professional products.
Facilities for carrying out
You can carry out fruit peeling at home using fresh fruits and berries. Professional cosmetics for this procedure contain a larger amount of AHA acids (more concentrated), so they cope with the task more effectively.
Products from regular stores are less concentrated compared to analogues for salon procedures.
Interesting to know: You can get rid of numerous facial skin problems with fruit peeling in a cosmetologist’s office in 1–3 sessions. Since the content of AHA acids in special cosmetics is high, side effects may occur. Home remedies are less aggressive, but will require regular use to eliminate the problem.
It is prohibited to add more than 25% fruit acid to homemade masks. Try to make a mask in the evening, when the skin is more receptive to beneficial ingredients.
Recipes for peeling
It is not necessary to purchase special cosmetics. You can easily prepare miracle masks on your own that have a cleansing effect. Considering your problem, choose the right fruits and berries to add to your peeling products.
Apricot peeling mask
Do you want your skin to get a nice, even color and get rid of comedones? Then use fresh apricots as a base.
You will need:
- 4 fleshy apricots;
- 1 tbsp. l. coffee grounds;
- 1 tbsp. l. natural honey.
Preparation and use:
- Reduce the apricots to a pulp.
- Mix them with coffee and add honey.
- Mix the mask thoroughly.

In autumn and winter, your skin also needs cleansing, moisturizing and nourishing. Using bananas and lemon, you can eliminate numerous problems with the dermis of the face in a few procedures.
You will need:
- 1 tbsp. l. squeezed lemon juice;
- 1 tbsp. l. kefir, fermented baked milk or curdled milk (preferably natural);
- 1 tbsp. l. sugar cane;
- half a small banana.
Preparation and use:
- You will need to crush the banana in a ceramic bowl.
- Squeeze half a lemon and add it to the banana pulp.
- Add cane and kefir.
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly until it forms a homogeneous suspension.
- Distribute the resulting mixture on the skin.
- After 5 minutes, rinse with cold water.
This mask will perfectly nourish the skin, lighten it a little and cleanse it of impurities.
Sweet “strawberry” for your skin
If it's autumn or winter outside, be sure to try therapy for your skin by preparing a strawberry mask. Sweet berries can be purchased at the market or taken from the freezer. A suspension based on strawberries, coffee and eggs has proven itself well in the fight against skin problems.
You will need:
- 1 egg;
- 4 large strawberries;
- 1 tbsp. l. brewed coffee.
Preparation and use:
- Grind the strawberries to a paste. You can use a regular fork.
- Add a chicken egg and coffee.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until it becomes a paste.

After completing a month-long course with the intensity of the procedure 2 times a week, you will see how the skin acquires an even color. Malic acid present in strawberries will improve regeneration, and coffee will have a scrubbing effect.
Important point: If you decide to use fruit peeling for the first time, take a smaller amount of fruits and berries than is indicated in the recipe. After several procedures, when the skin gets used to the effects, an increase in the amount of fruit acid is allowed.
Cleaning with kiwi
This overseas fruit perfectly cleanses the skin, tones and moisturizes it. After kiwi peeling, you will feel the turgor and how every cell of the face is ready to receive oxygen from the environment.
You will need:
- half 1 kiwi;
- 1 tbsp. l. semolina;
- several banana slices;
- 1 capsule of retinol (vitamin A).
Preparation and use:
- Mix kiwi with banana and mash with a fork.
- Add semolina and vitamin A.
- Apply a thick layer to problem areas of the skin.
- Leave the mask on for 15 minutes.
- Rinse off with cold water.
Fresh fruit-based masks prepared at home are used only once and immediately after preparation. If you put fruit pulp in the refrigerator, you risk not achieving the expected result.
Ready-made cosmetics for peeling
For those who want to carry out fruit peeling as quickly as possible, there are ready-made solutions that can be purchased at a cosmetic store. You can use the following cosmetics:
- "Bark" mask. The cream can smooth out scars, eliminate acne and eliminate the first signs of aging skin. The mask provides hydration and has a rejuvenating effect. The product does a good job of eliminating comedones, fighting pigment spots and eliminating facial wrinkles. In addition, the product normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands and promotes the production of collagen fibers. A 75 ml container will cost 2,400 rubles.

Users from all over the world note a beneficial effect on the skin: freckles and age spots become invisible, dead particles are delicately removed from the upper layers of the epidermis, and the skin color becomes even. Important point: Before using fruit cosmetics for the first time, be sure to do an allergy test. Apply a small amount of product to your wrist. After 15-20 minutes, wash it off with cold water. The absence of redness and itching is a green light for further use of the product.
Reviews
Natalya, Ufa
“For several years now I have been making fruit peeling masks myself, and often carried out such procedures once every 4-5 days. I make the mask from regular orange and additional components. I would like to note that my skin has really improved, and wrinkles have noticeably decreased. I would love to go to salons, but I don’t have the money for it.”
Sofia, Kemerovo
“I carried out peeling at home using the drug Cora. The product turned out to be miraculous, and after just a few uses, the acne disappeared from the face and the wrinkles smoothed out.”
People note the effectiveness of fruit peeling
Lyudmila, Sochi
“For several years now I have been regularly taking care of my skin, purchasing not the cheapest cosmetics. However, I recently decided to trust the hands of a master and turned to a cosmetologist who recommended a procedure such as fruit peeling. The result was amazing, I actually looked 8 years younger.”
Advantages and disadvantages
Cosmetologists unanimously recognize fruit peeling as the safest method of exfoliation. The effect is superficial, does not cause discomfort, and eliminates complex rehabilitation. The exfoliation option is not subject to seasonal restrictions.
An obvious disadvantage of mono- or multi-fruit peeling is the weak effectiveness of the technique. Cosmetologists perform the procedure only to prepare for more serious interventions and recommend medications for regular home use.
There are many preparations for gentle cleansing. A prominent representative of the group, which is often preferred by consumers, is Lactopiling. For a more vivid effect, it is recommended to have the procedure performed by a cosmetologist using TCA peeling, for example, PRX t 33.
What do the experts say?
Irina Dorofeeva, cosmetologist
“Before applying for the procedure, it is worth realizing that peelings have different concentrations. The final result depends on this. First of all, you should consult an experienced cosmetologist who will identify the problem and prescribe the appropriate treatment. It is recommended to avoid fruit peeling if there are rashes of unknown origin on the skin, as well as if the skin itself is quite sensitive.”
Doctors recommend choosing a procedure carefully
Margarita Eiten, plastic surgeon
“The choice of peeling depends on various factors. The selection of a suitable procedure and the right drug is carried out by a dermatologist or cosmetologist, who takes into account all the characteristics of the client’s skin. The patient’s ability to devote enough time to the rehabilitation period is also taken into account. Additionally, it is worth considering that the result manifests itself individually, and not everyone’s skin defects will be eliminated in one procedure.”
What are they?
Most often, lactic, glycolic, citric, malic and tartaric acids are used for fruit peeling, each of which helps fight different problems. In addition to differentiation by area of effect on the skin, all acids differ in the depth of penetration into the layers of the epidermis, which also affects the choice of the appropriate ingredient for the procedure.
- Lactic acid , found in blueberries, grapes, apples, tomatoes and dairy products, has a pronounced antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect. Peeling with its use helps to thoroughly exfoliate dead skin cells, even out facial tone, and whiten the skin.
- Glycolic acid , which is rich in grapes, sugar cane and beets, is able to penetrate into the deep layers of the skin, starting the processes of regeneration and rejuvenation. It is often used to improve skin tone, combat acne, post-acne and hyperpigmentation.
- Citric acid , obtained from citrus fruits, whitens the skin, reduces inflammation and helps tighten pores.
- Malic acid , found in large quantities in apples and tomatoes, has a high pectin content. This substance actively fights inflammation and promotes healing, so malic acid is indispensable in the fight against acne, blackheads and various rashes.
- Tartaric acid , which is obtained from grapes, oranges, avocados, limes and apples, is used to exfoliate dead skin particles, whiten and moisturize.

Effect of acids for chemical peeling
Each acid gives specific effects and requires a different recovery period after peeling:
Acid | Result |
Glycolic acid | Exfoliates and regulates the thickness of the top layer of skin and its color. Stimulates skin cells to synthesize collagen, thereby increasing its elasticity. With regular use, every 10-14 days, wrinkles become less noticeable. Exfoliation after using glycolic acid lasts 2 to 3 days. The skin turns red after peeling, and a burning sensation may also occur. After this time, the skin begins to regenerate, creating a new epidermis. |
Mandelic acid | Stronger than lactic acid. Has an exfoliating and bactericidal effect. Can be used for all skin types. Also suitable for sensitive skin as it does not cause irritation. Effective for eliminating hyperpigmentation and acne scars. It also regulates sebum secretion and makes skin pores less noticeable. |
Lactic acid | Has a moisturizing and exfoliating effect. |
Lemon acid | In addition to exfoliating, it also has brightening properties. |
Salicylic acid | The most popular beta hydroxy acid. It is gentler than fruit acids, but also exfoliates, moisturizes and restores the skin. |
Hyaluronic acid | Used for procedures that moisturize the skin. In high concentrations it causes peeling of its top layer. Treatment with hyaluronic acid does not cause irritation, so it can be used for sensitive skin. |
Alpha keto acids (AKAa), such as pyruvic acid. Polyhydroxy acids, for example gluconic and lactobionic acids. | They have a rapid superficial irritant effect, causing the skin to exfoliate and then recover. In addition, these acids have a brightening, anti-acne and bacteriostatic effect. |
Pyruvic acid | Recommended for sensitive skin with signs of photoaging, discoloration and acne scars. |
Azelaic acid, found in cereals. | It has a multidirectional effect and is used to treat seborrheic dermatitis, juvenile and rosacea, acne and papulopustular lesions. It has anti-inflammatory properties and blocks melanin production. Like other acid treatments, azelaic acid peels are recommended for skin with visible signs of aging. |
