A good plastic surgeon is like a real sculptor, able to eliminate any imperfections of the face or figure and highlight their advantages. But not every owner of this profession is a true master of his craft. That is why it is so important to seek help from an experienced and well-established specialist. This is exactly what Sergei Levin is. What kind of specialist is this? And is he really as good as they say he is?
General information about the specialist
Sergey Lvovich is an active plastic surgeon, Doctor of Medical Sciences, a member of the Society of Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery of the Russian Federation, as well as an honorary representative of the Society of Reconstructive, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery of Switzerland.
In addition, Sergey Lvovich Levin is considered the successor and faithful student of the famous Geneva plastic surgery specialist Denis Montandon.
Levin Sergey Lvovich
Levin Sergey Lvovich - plastic surgeon, Doctor of Medical Sciences, full member of the Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery of Switzerland (SSPRAS), head of the EMC Aesthetic Clinic.
Sergey Lvovich is actively engaged in scientific activities. He is the author of the idea of FEEL&LOOK YOUNGER® technology - non-surgical rejuvenation with one’s own fibroblasts.
Working as a plastic surgeon for Sergei Lvovich is not just a profession, but his whole life. At the same time, he is a very versatile person: he is completely fluent in French and English, and has a musical education in violin. In his free time from work he likes to ski.
Work experience since 1987.
Education. • In 1987, Sergei Lvovich graduated from the Ivanovo State Medical Academy. • In 1989 he received the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences, defending his dissertation on the topic “Microsurgical anastomoses”. • Trained with the legendary plastic surgeon Denys Montandon (Prof. Denys Montandon, MD., PhD.), head of the department of plastic surgery at the University of Geneva, president of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS).
Practical activities. • 1992 – 2000 plastic surgeon at the General Beaulieu clinic (Geneva) in the department of plastic surgery. • From 2000 to the present, leading specialist at the European Medical Center clinic (Moscow).
Scientific activity. • In 1990, Sergei Levin began actively working on scientific projects, including “Healing and renewal of skin tissue” at the University of Geneva. During his practice, the surgeon found out what role cytokines, regulators of cell activity, play during the aging of the human body. • In 1991 - discovered the role of cell activity regulators in the problem of aging of the human body - cycotine. • He is the author of publications in the American journal “Microsurgery”, and also worked at the scientific research center at the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Geneva. • 1993 - became the author of a scientific publication of a modern method of forming invisible scars using the plasmacytic fraction. • 1998 - at a seminar of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of Switzerland, he presented a new gentle technique in the field of abdominoplasty, which excluded complications. • 1999 - General Beaulieu developed protocols for the clinical use of cycotins for the effective mobilization of fibroblasts. • 2000 - at the European Congress of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons in Berlin, he presented a new technique for “endoscopic frontal and temporal facelift.” • 2001 - leader of the master class in the field of rhinoplasty “Visage Profile” in Montreux. • 2002 - Chairman of the committee of analysts on repeated breast prosthetics. • Developer of a promising trend in plastic surgery – “face-transforming” – as a set of surgical and non-invasive methods that allow you to change facial features to create harmonious proportions, as well as restore lines and volumes lost with age.
Where did you study as a plastic surgeon?
Since Sergei himself considers it unnecessary to make public information about his childhood years, almost no one writes anything about it. But a lot of interesting things are told about our hero’s studies and youthful hobbies. For example, it is known that in his youth the young man was actively interested in science and medicine. He read a lot and even persuaded his parents to buy new books and magazines that corresponded to the topic of his hobby. They also say that at school he studied biology, physics and chemistry with passion. In a word, he gave preference to more exact sciences.
However, the real biography of Sergei Levin begins from the moment our hero enters the Ivanovo State Medical Academy. He graduated from it at the end of 1987, receiving a diploma and an honorary certificate.
Incredibly, the young specialist decided not to stop there and exactly two years later he hastily defended his dissertation at the Sechenov Institute on the topic “Microsurgical anastomoses.”
Working on new scientific projects
After his first successes in science and medicine, Sergei Levin (a plastic surgeon with a capital P) again plunged into books. Since 1990, he has been productively working on several scientific projects, one of which is related to the process of regeneration and healing of skin tissue.
It is noteworthy that at that time Sergei Lvovich was not a pure theorist. On the contrary, he immediately sought to put all his knowledge into practice. And the main thing is that for this he had all the necessary skills and capabilities, since his teacher was the head of the department of plastic surgery located in Geneva. It was here that the promising specialist was invited to work in 1991. It was here that his first acquaintance with real plastic surgery took place.
The first discoveries in the field of plastic surgery
During his practice, which Levin Sergey Lvovich (a plastic surgeon with twenty years of experience) by chance took place in the Geneva laboratory at the above-mentioned institute, he managed to discover the incredible abilities of one of the types of cytokines.
According to the conclusions drawn, the information peptide molecules he found contributed to the rapid healing and restoration of previously damaged skin. Levin came to such conclusions with the active support of the staff of the higher educational institution.
Practical advice on the profession and first publications in the media
After a while, Sergei Levin managed not only to establish himself on the positive side, but also to begin training young specialists. In addition, our hero began to post his scientific works for public viewing, attracting foreign and domestic media for this. In 1993, he gave an exclusive interview to the famous American publication Microsurgery.
During a conversation with journalists, Sergei Levin (a plastic surgeon of the highest category) gave a vivid presentation of an innovative method of forming invisible scars, based on the use of the plasmacytic fraction.
At the beginning of 1998, Levin spoke at one of the bright seminars of the Association of Plastic Surgeons, which was held at that time in Switzerland. It is noteworthy that the topic of his report was the author’s abdominoplasty technique, based on certain muscle characteristics. As a result of the speech, the author made an incredibly positive impression and earned the first reviews from experienced plastic surgery gurus.
New achievements of the doctor
In early 2000, Sergei Lvovich Levin went against his profession and developed an incredibly effective non-surgical technique for a facelift. According to him, this method is unique in that it is simple, accessible to almost everyone and recommended for people who want to rejuvenate without the knife of a plastic surgeon. The total time of the procedure, called FEEL&LOOK YOUNGER®, is no more than 30 minutes.
In the same year, Dr. Levin became one of the guest lecturers at the European Medical Center. While working in a Moscow private clinic, Sergei not only shared his experience, but clearly showed young specialists the principle of rhinoplasty. At the same time, Sergei Lvovich was invited to a small Swiss town called Montreux. Here he also acted as a lecturer, delivering a course on “Appearance Profiling”, and enjoyed teaching master classes on plastic surgery.
Author's plastic surgeries by Sergei Levin
Today, anti-aging surgeries continue to be in great demand. The desire of men and women to look younger and more attractive brings them to the plastic surgeon's office, and the surgeons themselves force them to look for new, more effective ways to restore people's youth. To understand the specifics of rejuvenation operations, we turned to a well-known plastic surgeon, a generalist with experience in Russia and abroad, Sergei Lvovich Levin.
— Sergey Lvovich, please tell us how your journey in aesthetic surgery began?
My journey in plastic surgery began back in 1991, when I went to Geneva (Switzerland)
engage in fundamental research on the biology of fibroblasts and the problem of skin wound healing. This was basic research related to laboratory practice in the field of cell culture. I worked there for a year, and we had a joint project with plastic surgeons in Geneva: together we began to study the healing of skin wounds, as well as wounds after burns. Eventually, I realized that I wanted to be a plastic surgeon. They invited me to join them, and I worked in Geneva until 2001, when I was forced to return to Russia for family reasons.
— Do you consider anyone among Russian or foreign specialists to be your teacher?
Professor Denys Montandon
is the man who invited me to work in Geneva and who taught me a lot. I consider him my teacher.
— In Moscow, you accept only EMC, and do you accept abroad?
At the EMC clinic in Moscow, I perform several operations every day, so I simply don’t have time to work in other places, especially abroad.
— Sergey Lvovich, name the TOP 3 of your favorite operations.
A real plastic surgeon does any kind of surgery. But the more complex ones are always more interesting, because the more complex the operation, the more interesting it is for the surgeon. These include anti-aging surgeries and rhinoplasty. But in everyday practice, the range of things that I do, of course, is not limited to these two operations, I do almost everything.
— There are a lot of unusual reviews on the Internet about how you perform a facelift: they describe that you definitely perform a Bulhorn (upper lip lift) and install a chin implant, use cellular technologies, in addition to classical manipulations to lift the soft tissues of the face, is this true?
In general, this is true. After all, in order to perform high-quality facial rejuvenation, you need to have a good understanding of what metamorphoses occur with the face of any person over time. But the fact is that over time, not only the skin falls down, but also the size of the facial skull, the length of the lips, and the width of the nose change. This is a fundamental point in a facelift. If a woman simply tightens the skin on her face, it turns into a “transformer doll”; her facial features become unlike those she had in her youth, or those she had before the operation. Therefore, our task is to make a person look like himself in his youth. That is why it is necessary to operate comprehensively. Without changing the forehead, nose, eyebrows, lips, chin, lower jaw, you cannot achieve the desired result.
— What kind of manipulations does a facelift involve then?
Let's go in order. A young woman’s forehead is smooth and vertical, but an older woman’s forehead becomes uneven and tends to fall back. Therefore, you need to add your own fabric to make the forehead smooth and vertical.
- I don't do a forehead lift
because it only makes me look older. After all, the higher the eyebrows, the older a person looks, and the lower the eyebrows, the younger we look. - During the operation, the eyebrows are made straight, and the eyes are made more elongated, since round eyes are characteristic of an elderly person.
- The nose should be made smooth, with closed nostrils pointing downwards.
- The nasolabial angle becomes smaller over time; this is a very strong sign of aging
, so it also needs to be corrected. - The upper lip lengthens very much with age, so we shorten it too.
- The lower jaw, on the contrary, decreases by 2 times, if we take the ages of 18 and 80 years. Therefore, you need to create additional volume in the chin area.
In general, it is important to understand that with age, the skin on the face sags not as a result of gravity, but because the skull decreases in all its protrusions: on the forehead, under the eyes, in the area of the cheekbones and lower jaw, among others.
— So you don’t perform the much-publicized endoscopic forehead lift?
No, this is outdated technology. As a result of an endoscopic lift, the surface of the forehead is not changed, but instead the eyebrows are raised. As soon as you do a forehead lift, the distance between the eyebrow and the eye increases, which noticeably ages the face
. And in order for the face to look young, the eyebrows should be low and straight.
Previously, many surgeons tried to tighten everything they could. This was also a way to earn money. And if someone uses this technique now, then they are simply following by inertia. Real rejuvenation is a whole complex of operations; it cannot be reduced to a simple tightening.
— And what place does SMAS lifting have among all the rejuvenation operations you described?
SMAS is the finishing touch after all operations. If we do only SMAS lifting, we will get the effect of a “transformer doll”.
With the help of SMAS lifting you can remove the skin, but everything else needs to be done in other ways. Therefore, we first perform a temporal endoscopic lift to make the eyebrows straight, then we do anti-aging rhinoplasty, as a result of which the nostrils become slightly narrower and the nose is straightened. Then we shorten the upper lip and add volume to the lower jaw. Only after all this, as the final stage, is SMAS done.
— And if there are problems with the neck, are they solved with the help of SMAS lifting or do you use some other techniques?
Neck problems can be solved with SMAS. But the neck is also part of a whole complex of operations, so it is impossible to lift only the neck. In general, no part of the face can be tightened without affecting or changing others, this is wrong.
— Nowadays you can often find information that you use cellular technologies during operations. What are these technologies and what do they provide?
Cellular technologies are used in different ways, we mainly use them where we need to add volume to the skull. In essence, this is a lipofilling procedure, but we pay great attention to the quality of the cells that are used during this manipulation. The latest technologies make it possible to identify long-lived cells and use them to add volume to those places where the amount of hard tissue has decreased over the years. This allows us to achieve long-term preservation of the effect: the volume that we give to the tissues lasts much longer than after traditional lipofilling. And we already use the fat itself, which remains after the collection of long-lived cells, to smooth out wrinkles.
— How long do the results of this high-tech lipofilling last?
The effect of lipofilling lasts for 5 years, then the manipulation must be repeated. But, in my opinion, 5 years is quite a long time; not all operations provide such a long-lasting effect.
— You are also known as a rhinoplasty surgeon, are there any peculiarities of your operations?
Rhinoplasty is a very complex operation, it is fraught with a lot of unknowns, which is why many surgeons are afraid of it. In general, the beauty of the nose is determined not by the length or width of the nose, not by the shape of the tip, but by the nasolabial angle. If the angle between the nose and upper lip is 90 degrees or more, then the girl, in principle, will always look attractive.
Women, unlike men, have a beauty standard for their nose.
and you need to clearly understand what it is. This standard consists of a certain angle, projection of the tip of the nose, height of the back, projection of the nostrils. All this must be taken into account when performing rhinoplasty.
Sergey Lvovich, thank you very much for the interesting conversation! We are sure that your story will be useful to our readers!

Moscow practice and further development
At the beginning of 2001, Sergei Levin (his photo can be seen in the article) returned from abroad to his homeland and decided to start his own practice. To do this, he opens a clinic in which he begins to recruit promising specialists who are able to quickly learn and understand the essence of the work.
Later, our hero becomes a sought-after expert in the field of plastic surgery in the Russian Federation. He gets many clients who speak positively about the doctor’s work. And exactly one year later, Sergey successfully runs the EMC Aesthetic Clinic, opened on the basis of the European Medical Center, and is part of a commission of analysts specializing in re-prosthetics of female mammary glands.
Plastic surgeon Levin: scientific and practical activities
Sergei Levin began his professional activity in 1987, when he graduated from the Medical Academy in Ivanovo. Soon he defended his Ph.D. thesis. While improving his profession, Sergei Lvovich was invited to the laboratory of the University of Geneva.

The best plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is one of the most complex plastic surgeries that eliminates congenital or acquired nasal defects.
Markushin Alexander Alexandrovich is a plastic surgeon specializing in rhinoplasty, who has sufficient practical experience, is well trained, and can easily cope with the most complex tasks.
Basic education in maxillofacial surgery, thousands of successfully performed nasal surgeries by Dr. Alexander Markushin, make it possible to help people with the most complex rhinoplasty problems.
Using innovative techniques, Alexander Alexandrovich during rhinoplasty will quickly correct the size, aesthetic appearance, or eliminate an internal defect that impedes normal breathing.
What requests do patients most often turn to Dr. Alexander Markushin?
The shape, size, and proportionality of the nose form an attractive appearance. While for men a large or hooked nose is normal, for women a similar shape or size causes panic attacks that can become a serious psychological problem.
Alexander Alexandrovich, being one of the best doctors in rhinoplasty, after examination and conducting the necessary laboratory tests, will individually select a technique to eliminate existing aesthetic or medical deficiencies.
About eighty percent of patients who turn to Dr. Markushin come to not only improve the shape of the nose, but also restore normal breathing, namely
- Remove a congenital defect that interferes with normal nasal breathing.
- Correct the consequences of injuries received in sports competitions.
- Restore normal nose function after an accident.
And only in twenty percent of cases do patients turn to Alexander Alexandrovich, as the best rhinoplasty specialist, to give their face an aesthetically attractive appearance, namely
- Remove the hump.
- Bring the size of the nose to a proportional size.
- Give the nostrils and wings of the nose a beautiful appearance.
- Make a hooked nose look beautiful.
- Remove the saddle.
Using 3D modeling, Alexander Alexandrovich will build a model of a new nose during the consultation.
After a visual examination, conversation, and checking the condition of the body, the day of surgery is set. The surgical result will be positive if the patient strictly adheres to all the recommendations of his attending physician.
You should know!!!
During a consultation on rhinoplasty, during an examination, the doctor always relies on objective data and offers the optimal solution to the existing problem. If necessary, he prescribes additional consultations with related specialists.
During the examination, the patient must tell as truthfully and accurately as possible about all existing health problems. This will help the rhinoplasty specialist quickly choose the best surgical method.
Using computer modeling, you can see what your appearance will be like after surgery from different angles.
Tests for rhinoplasty
The doctor prescribes comprehensive hardware and laboratory tests before starting to work with the patient.
- A general blood test is done.
- Detailed biochemistry allows you to accurately find out about the level of urea, glucose, bilirubin, creatinine, protein, ALT, AST.
- General urine and stool tests are performed.
- It is necessary to clarify the blood type and Rh factor.
- Tests for AIDS, HIV, and hepatitis are required.
- A coagulogram is done.
- You definitely need to do fluorography.
- For women, examination by a gynecologist is mandatory.
Permission to perform the operation is given by the therapist and other specialized specialists, if there are prerequisites for this.
Important!!!
A rhinoplasty plastic surgeon never operates without a full examination, even if minor external correction is required. Understanding exactly what condition the patient’s body is in, it is easier to choose the right technique.
Reasons for refusing surgery
You can operate on your nose only after the formation of the bone base has stopped. This happens until the age of 18-20. In this case, the rhinoplasty doctor must take into account the psychological state of the patient; if there is a suspicion of dysmoprophobia, a consultation with a psychotherapist is prescribed.
For some national groups in which the size or configuration of the nose is a source of pride, it would not be amiss to have a joint conversation with the patient and close relatives before rhinoplasty.
People over forty years old are required to undergo a full course of examination with tomography, ECG, and other types of hardware studies.
The operation is strictly contraindicated if:
- there are signs of benign or malignant tumors of any location;
- exacerbation of mental illness;
- blood clotting problems were discovered;
- presence of any type of diabetes;
- diseases of the heart and blood vessels;
- bright form of collagenosis;
- various types of acute kidney or liver diseases;
- flu, cold with high fever.
Alexander Alexandrovich will definitely suggest waiting if a woman is breastfeeding or pregnant. Surgery may have a negative impact on the baby's health.
A completely healthy person will quickly undergo a rehabilitation course, fully restore his health, and will not require additional help from a rhinoplasty specialist.
Must remember!
Before the operation, it is recommended to take a few days off to avoid physical activity that could negatively affect the recovery time of the body after rhinoplasty.
Closed and open rhinoplasty
After conducting a thorough examination and receiving laboratory data, Alexander Alexandrovich chooses an open or closed type of operation.
1. The open technique allows you to fully see the nasal skeleton, accurately measuring each action. The doctor easily moves or implants cartilage and removes excess tissue.
2. The closed technique leaves almost no external signs of surgical intervention. After a few months, even a specialist will not notice small scars.
Reviews of the work of plastic surgeon for rhinoplasty Alexander Markushin are only positive. You can verify this by going to the website page with reviews or looking at information on the Internet.
Compliance with the rules of rehabilitation will speed up recovery
Full recovery depends on the individual characteristics of the patient’s body. Age, bad habits, and lifestyle affect the rate of tissue healing.
Any operation is stressful, so you must carefully follow the instructions of your doctor.
If a minor shape correction was carried out using fillers or hyaluronic acid, long-term rehabilitation is not necessary. The patient can lead a normal lifestyle the next day.
After a complex operation it is necessary:
- avoid any physical activity or sports;
- do not visit swimming pools, baths, saunas, solariums;
- stop wearing glasses.
The first three days after surgery, you should not consume hot or cold drinks. Do not bend over or strain suddenly to avoid nosebleeds. If you experience any unpleasant or painful symptoms, you should immediately consult your doctor for advice.
Positive reviews about Alexander Alexandrovich Markushin, as one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons, allow us to speak about his impeccable work.
When is revision rhinoplasty required?
Secondary rhinoplasty is used to correct complex defects when additional correction is necessary. Such an operation can only be performed by one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in Russia
- Primary surgery is performed to eliminate aesthetic problems that are congenital or caused by injuries.
- A secondary operation is prescribed if complications arise or the patient is dissatisfied with the result of the work.
- There are a number of complex operations where two stages of surgery are required. In this case, the patient is warned in advance that after rehabilitation and complete recovery of the body, he will have to undergo another operation.
Important!
Revision rhinoplasty should not be confused with correction. The first is the complex work of an experienced surgeon, in the second case it is a small aesthetic correction of deficiencies.
Alexander Alexandrovich Markushin deservedly enjoys a reputation as one of the best plastic surgeons in rhinoplasty, capable of performing the most complex plastic surgeries on the nose.

- For the correction of facial deformations that occur when smiling or talking.
- For postoperative correction of minor defects in the shape of the nose.
- Improved nasal breathing.
- As a compromise option if there is no time for a long postoperative period or fear of major operations.
Before any non-surgical rhinoplasty option, a computer simulation of the desired result is performed. Whether non-surgical rhinoplasty is right for you, and which option will be preferable, can only be determined during a consultation. The purpose of this page is to talk about existing methods of non-surgical rhinoplasty.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid preparations.
- the effect is temporary, lasts about a year, disappears without a trace.
- well suited for a “try-on” correction option.
- allows you to fill small depressions on the bridge of the nose and bridge of the nose,
- you can make the tip of the nose more rounded, fill in small pits on the tip
- A slight correction of the nasolabial angle is possible due to the visual displacement of the columella downwards.

- It is possible to perform the procedure not only by a plastic surgeon, but also by a cosmetologist.
- About 20 variants of hyaluronic acid preparations from various manufacturers are suitable for performing this procedure. The result of the procedure depends mainly on the qualifications and artistic taste of the doctor.
- The cost of non-surgical rhinoplasty with hyaluronic acid preparations depends on the cost of the drug used and ranges from 13,200 rubles.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty with Radiesse
- A preparation based on hydroxyapatite, denser and less fluid than hyaluronic acid preparations.
- the effect is temporary, lasts about a year, disappears almost completely (slight fibrosis remains at the site of drug administration).
- not suitable for the “try-on” correction option.
- allows you to fill small depressions on the bridge of the nose and bridge of the nose,
- temporary correction of saddle-shaped deformity of the nasal dorsum.
- Classic rhinoplasty can be performed after 18 months (after complete resorption of the drug)
- usually performed under local anesthesia,
- the procedure takes a few minutes,
- preliminary examination is advisable
- no hospitalization required.
- The recovery period is several days, swelling is possible, bruising is rare, redness is rare.
- It is possible to perform the procedure not only by a plastic surgeon, but also by a cosmetologist.
- The result of the procedure depends mainly on the qualifications and artistic taste of the doctor.
- The cost of non-surgical rhinoplasty with Radiesse depends on the amount of the drug used and ranges from 14,000 rubles.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty using your own fat tissue
- Nothing foreign is used, only your own fat cells.

- you can make the tip of the nose more rounded, fill in small pits on the tip
- A slight correction of the nasolabial angle is possible due to the visual displacement of the columella downwards.
- Correction of moderate saddle-shaped deformity of the nasal dorsum is possible.
- Classic rhinoplasty can be performed 12 months after the last fat transfer session.
- usually performed under short-term intravenous anesthesia, less often under local anesthesia,
- the procedure takes about half an hour,
- preliminary examination is required.
- hospitalization for 1 day (from morning to evening)
- The recovery period is about 2 weeks, there will be swelling, bruising, and rarely redness.
- The procedure can only be performed by a plastic surgeon.
- The result of the procedure depends on the qualifications and artistic taste of the doctor, as well as on the survival rate of the adipose tissue.
- The cost of non-surgical rhinoplasty using your own adipose tissue is 30,000 rubles per procedure.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty using the drug Diprospan
- It is used only to refine the shape of the nose after rhinoplasty.
- The effect is lifelong, achieved gradually over 1-5 procedures with an interval of 1-4 weeks.
