Camphor oil is not only an effective medicine, but also an excellent product for facial rejuvenation and hair thickness. In addition, camphor is an excellent antiseptic and you can use it to whiten your skin.
But the use of camphor oil in facial cosmetology is possible only in the absence of contraindications and following certain rules.
Camphor oil: what is it used for in cosmetology?
The oil product is made by steam distillation of crushed branches, roots, and pieces of bark of an evergreen tree called Japanese laurel. The result is white and black essential oil. For cosmetic purposes, only white, first-distilled camphor ether is used, which contains the maximum amount of natural ingredients beneficial for the face, hair and body.
For information
There is also pharmaceutical oil - this is a solution of camphor in a base oil (vegetable or mineral). The oil preparation is used mainly not for cosmetic purposes, but for medicinal purposes.
White camphor oil has a pronounced bitter aroma, reminiscent of the smell of eucalyptus and a pale yellow color of the liquid. It gained its popularity due to its antispasmodic, antiseptic and analgesic properties.
Camphor oil has been used in facial cosmetology quite recently and many are just beginning to learn about its beneficial properties. So why do cosmetologists actively use camphor oil and recommend this product as a skincare product to their clients? It's all about the rich composition of the oil:
- Cineol – gives the ether rejuvenating properties, fights wrinkles and promotes the growth of new epidermal cells.
- Bisabolol – has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, heals wounds, tightens pores, fights rosacea and pigmentation.
- Eucalyptol – stimulates cellular renewal and helps fight age-related changes in the skin, has antiseptic properties.
- Safrol - often used in perfumery, regulates sebum secretion and metabolism in the skin, relieves swelling, and has a disinfecting effect.
- Pinene – moisturizes, gives the skin a healthy shine and silkiness.
- Phellandrene - restores tissue structure and accelerates the production of its own collagen and elastin, inhibiting the aging process of facial skin.
- Limonene – fights harmful microorganisms, evens out and brightens the skin, eliminating pigmentation.
- Camphene – improves blood circulation and restores damaged tissue.
Why is camphor oil used in cosmetology?
The ether is included in many preparations for face and body care, such as:
- lipsticks;
- facial creams and cleansers (such as acne lotions);
- deodorants;
- refreshing foot creams;
- perfume compositions;
- balms and lotions for/after shaving.
Contraindications
Despite its properties, camphor oil is not suitable for everyone. Low concentrations are safe for most people, but too high a dose of camphor can lead to health problems. Depending on body weight, just 4 g of the substance can even lead to death. For this reason, accurate and careful dosing of the product is essential for its correct use.
Exceeding the recommended dose may cause unwanted symptoms such as:
- seizures;
- hyperactivity;
- confusion;
- irritability.
Do not use the oil on children under 6 years of age. Their tolerance to camphor is much lower than that of adults, so an overdose of the drug may occur. During pregnancy, camphor oil can be used only with the consent of the attending physician. Even external use can negatively affect fetal development. Caution should also be exercised during breastfeeding. Also, the oil should not be used by people suffering from epilepsy or Parkinson's disease.
Camphor oil for the face - benefits and indications for use
The rich composition of the essential product provides exceptional benefits for the skin, keeping it healthy. He:
- Whitens the skin, helps eliminate pigmentation.
- Eliminates irritation, inflammation and itching.
- Evens out skin texture and normalizes sebum secretion.
- Stimulates the production of your own collagen and repairs damage.
Camphor oil is an accessible, inexpensive, but no less effective remedy for facial skin care. Its use will have a great effect both on aging skin with wrinkles and age spots, and on young skin with inflammation, acne and traces of them.
Indications for the use of camphor oil in facial cosmetology:
- facial and age wrinkles, creases on the skin;
- inflammatory processes, enlarged pores, irritation and greasy shine of the skin - to normalize fat metabolism;
- pigmentation (both age-related and freckles, acne spots);
- sagging, decreased tone, unevenness of the epidermis.
Why do age spots occur?
Pigmentation in the form of age spots occurs on the face due to a disruption in the formation of melanin in the skin. At the same time, melanin begins to be produced in significant quantities and appears in the form of unsightly spots from light yellow to dark brown.
Excess melanin production occurs for a variety of reasons. Here are the main ones:
hormonal disorders in the female body, which are associated, for example, with pregnancy, aging, taking contraceptives,
incorrect use of certain medications, such as antibiotics,
ignoring the rules of skin care after peeling and polishing,
improper use of certain cosmetics, such as whitening creams, products with essential oils, products with alcohol,
violation of the diet, which results in a deficiency of vitamins, such as vitamin C,
diseases of internal organs, such as the liver, spleen, gastrointestinal tract, thyroid gland.
Before you begin to remove or whiten age spots, you must correctly determine the cause of pigmentation. After eliminating the cause, pigment spots can be bleached quite easily and you won’t need to spend a lot of time on removing pigmentation.
Precautionary measures
The ether is a highly concentrated substance, so even its external use must be accompanied by caution.
You should not use an oil product if at least one of these factors is present:
- hypertension;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- tendency to allergies and special sensitivity to some components of the oil product;
- fresh wounds and abrasions, pustules, dermatitis on the skin;
- epilepsy;
- bronchial asthma (the strong smell of camphor can trigger an attack);
- mental disorders and heart problems.
Important!
Camphor ether is best used in diluted form - in combination with base oils, creams, etc. Using it in its pure form on the face can cause skin burns, especially with sensitive types of epidermis.
In addition, it is extremely important to conduct a sensitivity test before using the oil product for the first time. In addition, you should not exceed the dosage or duration of procedures specified in a specific recipe and replace one ingredient with another in the composition of the aroma mixture arbitrarily. The newly added component may not always be combined with other ingredients in the recipe.
Reviews from doctors and experienced
Camphor oil for the face has received positive reviews not only from those who have gotten rid of wrinkles, pigmentation and other skin problems with its help. The product has earned the approval of professional cosmetologists and doctors.
However, despite all the benefits of this product, experts do not recommend using camphor oil for the face at home. If camphor procedures are carried out at home, the risk of overdose and side effects increases. In addition, the individual characteristics of the body should be taken into account. Only a specialist will be able to correctly determine whether this product is suitable for you, as well as prescribe the correct dosage and procedures that are suitable for your skin.
