Procedure

Over the past thirty years, several types of check lifting operations have been developed. Here are the two main ones:

through the eyelid.

The second type is the most commonly used. Especially for patients who require minimal lifting and no skin folds to remove.

If these problems exist, excess skin and fat are removed through a temporal incision.

The procedure is carried out like this.

The eyeballs are protected with special contact lenses. An incision is made on the inside of the lower eyelid. Through laparoscopy, the doctor has access to the entire periosteal area of the cheek up to the nasolabial folds.

The tissues forming the fold are leveled, their upper part is raised and attached to the area at the outer corner of the eye. As a result of the procedure, sagging is eliminated, and the tissues of the cheeks return back to the position they occupied when the patient was younger.

The incision inside the lower eyelid or outside, under the lower eyelashes, is invisible, and the lift is natural, because it lifts the cheeks in the direction from which they sank.

The operation is performed in a clinic, in a hospital or on an outpatient basis. It lasts about 90 minutes, after the procedure ice packs are placed on the patient’s eyelids and cheeks. Bruising and swelling will subside within one week. The procedure is often combined with lower eyelid blepharoplasty.

Experienced surgeons tell patients that check lifting will not solve the problem of bulldog cheeks in the lower jaw, it affects the paraorbital area and cheeks.

Side effects and complications

Despite minor injuries, check lifting is still a surgical operation, so consequences and complications cannot be completely excluded, although this happens extremely rarely. Unpleasant symptoms include:

swelling (this is an inevitable side effect that usually disappears after 1-3 weeks, but if a month later the defect has not disappeared, you cannot do without the help of a cosmetologist);
infection in the epidermal tissue (complications can occur due to the fault of an inexperienced surgeon; you will have to take a course of antibacterial drugs);
the appearance of hematomas (often they go away in just a week).
