The artist has been suffering from this disease, which causes facial asymmetry, for more than 30 years. According to Dmitry, the illness appeared unexpectedly: while studying in his second year at the theater institute, his face suddenly stopped moving and his muscles became paralyzed.
The student was urgently hospitalized, but the treatment did not help, and for almost 40 days his face remained completely motionless.
An incident helped partially restore the mobility of the facial muscles: a sharp gust of wind in the room where the future artist was lying broke the window glass. Out of surprise, Dmitry was frightened and at the same moment felt that first one eye twitched, then the other, and then a trembling ran down his cheek.
However, the stressful situation helped Nagiyev restore his facial expressions only partially - the left side of the actor’s face remained not fully mobile.
First plastic surgery
