Neatly defined, moderately plump and sensual lips are the dream of every woman. Beautiful lips attract the gaze of others - they are the ones that first of all attract the attention of representatives of the opposite sex. But what to do if the insidious Mother Nature did not give you royal lips?

Fortunately, thanks to aesthetic medicine, today it is possible to correct almost any defect in appearance without serious intervention in the body. The procedure for lip correction with fillers has long been one of the most popular in the Neo Vita clinic, since just one visit to us will allow you to show off your lips to the world in the best possible way!

The procedure will give your lips a juicy and bright look without changing their natural shape, will allow you to increase or restore your lips to their previous volume and elasticity, which certainly decrease with age, will help to more clearly outline the contour of your lips or correct it, giving them a charming swelling and making them more expressive, and will also allow you to eliminate annoying wrinkles around the lips that do not add attractiveness to anyone. What is this unique, miraculous procedure? Let's figure it out.

Lip contouring - mechanism of action

Lip contouring without volume is an innovative technology of modern cosmetology, a painless and quick method for correcting contours and aesthetic defects using subcutaneous injections of various drugs in the form of a gel. In the future we will call these drugs the generally accepted term “fillers”, which translated from English “filler” means “filler”.

In the 21st century, all preparations for facial contouring that have been certified and approved by the Russian Ministry of Health, fortunately, consist only of substances compatible with the body. Most of them are based on hyaluronic acid. It is this that usually ensures high performance and gives a miraculous effect from the procedure. In addition to hyaluronic acid, popular fillers also include other natural substances - calcium, collagen. Together they create a biodegradable, i.e. an absorbable, biological and hypoallergenic filler for lip augmentation that breaks down over time in the body, safe for the patient’s health.

On what principle does it work? Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid is carried out by injection into the deep layers of the skin. Then the filler composition “rises” to the top and, evenly distributed, fills wrinkles, creates the desired volume in the injection area, tightens the skin and improves its texture. In addition, the drug, as it dissolves, begins to have a magical effect on intracellular processes:

  • maximum hydration occurs at the injection site;
  • the synthesis of collagen fibers and elastin is activated;
  • free radicals are neutralized, which explains the amazing anti-aging effect.

The effect of lip correction procedure

The effect will be noticeable immediately after the injections. There is no rehabilitation period as such. Immediately after the procedure, there is a slight swelling of the lips, which completely disappears within 1-2 days, and the marks from the injections are almost invisible. You will get the real “dress-off” look after a few days, when the drug “subsides.” Depending on the severity of the problem, the drug used and the individual characteristics of the body, the duration of the effect of the contouring procedure may vary. The average time we guide patients for lip filler injection is 8-10 months (approximately 90% of our patients). There are patients whose hyaluronic acid breaks down very quickly, that is, literally within a week the filler is absorbed. Fortunately, the percentage of such patients is very small - only 1-2% according to manufacturers conducting full-scale studies. At the same time, we have enough patients for whom the filler provides an effect of up to 1-2 years.

Over time, the drug is gradually absorbed and eliminated from the body. Gradual absorption ensures that your lips will look as natural as possible throughout the life of the fillers. But if you want to maintain your chosen image constantly, after six months you can repeat the procedure of lip augmentation or correction with fillers without any harm to your health.

Lip correction with fillers. Which one is better to choose?

There are many different drugs for lip contouring, and new products appear every year. We constantly monitor trends and keep our finger on the pulse, but at the Neo Vita clinic we do not test market new products on clients.

Injectable fillers are injected into the lips for a long period, and the results from little-studied drugs can be unpredictable - inflammation, knots or movement! We use only the best existing and well-proven drugs that meet all international quality and safety standards and do not cause allergic reactions or side effects - “Surgiderm”, “Juvederm”, “Belotero”, “Princess”, “Regenyal” or "IAL-System".

Modern fillers differ from each other in the concentration of the main active substance - hyaluronic acid, the presence of auxiliary components and the viscosity of the drug, which determines the duration of its action and cost. Each of them has its own specific indications and contraindications for lip contouring.

We will not give you a definite answer to the question of which drug is better to choose, without knowing what task we face. There is a general rule - a thicker gel is used to work on lip contours, and a medium-density gel is used to correct volume. If the lips are naturally quite plump, then the volume adjustment is carried out with a denser gel, since a medium-density gel in this case will not give a noticeable visual effect. The ability to choose a more or less viscous product allows us to solve cosmetic problems at different levels and using different techniques. You should always remember that, ultimately, each lip is individual, so the gel and correction technique will be selected for a specific case in each case. An experienced doctor will determine exactly how to work with your lips to achieve the best result. At a consultation at the Neo Vita clinic, specialists will help you choose the optimal drug or combination of drugs, as well as how much you can enlarge your lips by 1 ml or less. It all depends on the initial state of your lips and wishes.

Contraindications for lip augmentation

Sometimes the patient’s desire to undergo the procedure is not enough, since contour lip augmentation has quite serious contraindications. It is strictly prohibited to administer injections to women during pregnancy and lactation, patients with diabetes mellitus, cancer, pathologies of the circulatory system, epilepsy and diseases of the central nervous system. Injections cannot be performed during an exacerbation of chronic diseases of internal organs, herpes, colds and flu, accompanied by elevated body temperature. Lip injections for augmentation should not be given to persons with hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, with a tendency to form keloid scars, during procedures, in the presence of inflammatory processes or non-absorbable (biopolymer) gels in the correction area. The doctor will warn you about all contraindications in advance during your consultation. If for some reason he does not do this, then do not hesitate to ask additional questions.

The role of hyaluronic acid, its effect on the condition of the lips

Hyaluronic acid was discovered in 1934. It is found in the human body. Being in connective tissues, the acid combines with water. As a result, the rate of water evaporation decreases and moisture is retained in the tissues.

After 25 years, hyaluronic acid is not so actively produced by the body. Therefore, the skin of the lips and face does not receive as much moisture as it did before. After 25-30 years, the first age-related changes become noticeable. Additional intake of hyaluronic acid into the body will help reduce the rate of their appearance.

The destruction of hyaluronic acid is influenced by the following factors:

  • Age.
  • Aggressive environmental influences. This includes poor air quality, ultraviolet radiation.
  • Tobacco smoke.

What effect does hyaluronic acid have on the skin of the lips:

  • Active hydration.
  • Smoothing wrinkles.
  • Slowing down the aging process.
  • Wound healing.

How is the procedure done?

If during the consultation, which we conduct for you free of charge, you have no contraindications, then first you and your doctor determine your expectations from the procedure. Then the doctor selects the type of filler and determines the technique of its introduction and the depth of impact depending on the problem.

  1. After antiseptic treatment, an anesthetic cream is applied to the lips, which will take effect in 15-20 minutes. Some preparations already contain lidocaine, so this step can be skipped. In some cases (at the patient’s request), the doctor administers local anesthesia - an injection into the gum (as at a dentist’s appointment).
  2. Using a syringe, the packaging of which is opened in front of you, the doctor injects filler into the corrected area.
  3. At the end of the procedure, the doctor repeats the antiseptic treatment, applies a soothing gel and tells you about the necessary restrictions that will need to be observed after the procedure and gives recommendations for care.

Duration of the procedure: from 30 to 60 minutes Required quantity: 1 procedure (additional correction is carried out according to indications or the client’s request).

At first glance, the protocol used to carry out the procedure may seem simple to you. But, to our great regret, we have experience working with patients who quite often come to us with requests to help correct the incorrect results of the work of some would-be cosmetologists. Therefore, we really want to warn you! Don’t give in to the temptation to get lip augmentation at a low price and with a friend in a hair salon or at the hairdresser’s home. Since the procedure is one of the most complex in modern cosmetology, it is not performed so often as to expose one’s beauty and health to unjustified risks. Remember, proper injection technique during the procedure is extremely important!

Preparation for the procedure

The procedure does not require special preparation. But before biorevitalization, a consultation is held with a cosmetologist. The specialist assesses the condition of the skin and takes into account the client’s wishes. It is important to tell your doctor about any existing diseases, especially allergies.

Recommendations from cosmetologists before the procedure:

  • Do not use lip scrubs or peels to avoid microcracks.
  • Reduce time spent in the sun. Sunbathing is prohibited.
  • For 5-7 days, avoid taking medications that affect blood clotting, including aspirin.
  • Do not drink any alcohol for 5-6 days.
