Exfoliation. How to do facial peeling at home? Home peeling recipes

At home, deep peeling is designed to help cleanse the skin of keratinized scales and residual sebum without resorting to the services of a cosmetologist. Special acids and other components of cleansing compositions penetrate deep into the epidermis, forming an even skin color, eliminating acne and comedones and providing a light lifting effect. The procedure is very quick and easy, requiring virtually no prior preparation. But you must understand that deep exposure, as opposed to superficial exposure, can lead to various side effects.

Exfoliation. Or why is peeling done?

Peeling - cleansing the skin of dead cells
Peeling is a cosmetic procedure for deep cleansing the skin, during which the top layer of dead cells is exfoliated.

IMPORTANT: The term “peeling” is derived from the English. the verb peel (“to peel”, “to scrape”). The procedure has another name - exfoliation

The procedure for getting rid of the stratum corneum of the skin is carried out with the aim of:

  • improving oxygen supply to living cells
  • improving blood circulation in subcutaneous vessels
  • acceleration of cellular metabolism
  • accelerating skin cell regeneration
  • preparing the skin for nutritional, moisturizing, rejuvenating procedures using masks

If peeling is carried out regularly, it is possible:

  • get rid of small wrinkles that appear
  • prevent the emergence of new
  • smooth out other uneven skin
  • clean and close pores
  • make skin more elastic
  • improve complexion
  • get rid of acne and other rashes

Peeling promotes facial skin rejuvenation
Peeling can be done in a cosmetology office or just at home. Based on what exactly affects the skin, exfoliation is distinguished:

  1. Mechanical - small abrasive particles in the composition of the skin cleanser act on it like sandpaper
  2. Chemical - removal of dead cells using acids and alkalis
  3. Ultrasonic – the use of a special device that creates ultrasonic waves. Under their influence, the connections between living and dead epidermal cells are destroyed, as a result of which the latter are separated
  4. Laser – removal of the stratum corneum under the influence of laser beams
  5. Biological - using enzymes (pepsin, papain, bromelain, others) to accelerate the natural processes of cellular renewal

There is a whole arsenal of folk and store-bought remedies that can be used for home peeling for all skin types.

IMPORTANT: The preparation for mechanical peeling is called a scrub or exfoliant

Using peeling you can remove acne.
The home peeling procedure has contraindications:

  • open wounds and ulcers
  • acute inflammatory process
  • oncology
  • treatment with ointments with hormones (glucocorticosteroids)

Homemade peeling for dry skin

Dry facial skin requires delicate cleansing.
Those with dry or sensitive skin are wary of peeling, rightly considering it a traumatic procedure. Some people prefer not to do it at all. It is not right!

IMPORTANT: Dry skin needs cleansing no less than other types. It is possible and necessary to exfoliate it at home

But! The scrub should not contain :

  • absorbent substances
  • large abrasive particles
  • too coarse abrasive particles
  • other components damaging thin skin

Substances and products that will effectively and safely cleanse dry and sensitive skin are::

  • fruit acids (grape acid, citric acid, others)
  • semolina
  • oat flour (from crushed oats)
  • strawberry
  • coffee grounds
  • other

When carrying out the exfoliation procedure, owners of thin, dry, sensitive skin must follow several rules:

  1. Do peeling no more than once every 7-10 days
  2. Duration of procedure – 1 minute
  3. When rubbing the scrub into the skin, do not press too hard on it.
  4. It is better to wash off the exfoliant with milk
  5. After exfoliation, it is recommended to make a moisturizing mask

IMPORTANT: Before using any exfoliant for dry skin, you should test it for allergies. An allergy test is done on the inside of the elbow. If after 24 hours no reaction occurs in this area of the skin, the drug is used as directed.

Cosmetologist's opinion

  • Elena Apostolyuk, cosmetologist: “Home peeling is useful and safe only when performed superficially. If you have no experience, then it is better to use the simplest and gentlest compositions so as not to cause harm to yourself. If you need a deep cleaning, go to a qualified professional. Don't experiment with your face: deep peeling is much more difficult than it seems. If you bring the situation to a severe burn, you will be treated for a long time. Another important point: when peeling at home, take into account your skin type, read the product label to see what skin it is suitable for.”

Today, choosing a chemical peeling product is not a problem. You can purchase a high-quality drug, or you can prepare an effective and safe composition yourself. In any case, the result will be noticeable, and if the procedure is performed correctly, pleasant.

The procedure should be postponed until the end of the course of taking the hormonal drug, until menstruation ends. These days, cleaning either does not work or acts unpredictably.

Glycolic peeling at home

Glycolic acid for peeling is sold in bottles
Glycolic fruit acid is very often used for home skin cleansing. The substance is extracted from sugar cane. It is not aggressive, but at the same time it has the ability to penetrate deeply into the epidermis, where:

  • promotes the separation of dead cells
  • improves cellular metabolism, in particular, stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin
  • destroys melanin

IMPORTANT: Glycolic peeling evens out the skin and improves its color

The procedure is performed as follows:

  1. A gel or lotion containing 10-15% glycolic acid is applied to previously cleansed facial skin.
  2. The drug is applied with a special brush.
  3. The drug is applied in a circular motion from top to bottom, from forehead to chin.
  4. Do not apply gel or lotion to the area around the eyes
  5. During 15 minutes, while the drug acts on the skin, a light acupressure massage is performed using cotton swabs.
  6. The mask is washed off with running cold water.

Safety precautions for home cleaning

If done incorrectly, peeling does harm instead of good. Below we describe in detail how to do a high-quality chemical peel at home so that the result pleases and not disappoints:

  1. Before using an acid composition, a test for an allergic reaction must be carried out: a small amount of the product is applied to the wrist or area behind the ear. Next you need to wait: if there is no pathological reaction, then the procedure is safe.
  2. The best time to exfoliate your face at home is in late fall and winter. During these seasons of the year, solar radiation is less intense and does not have such an aggressive effect on skin unprotected after cleansing.
  3. When choosing a peeling product, you need to take into account the type of skin. If it is difficult to assess the degree of oiliness of the skin yourself, then you should consult a cosmetologist.
  4. The acid composition is spread on the skin in a thin, even layer. Do not treat areas around the eyelids and lips, where the skin is thin, sensitive, and also dries out with intense exposure.
  5. Before purchasing a peeling product, you should carefully read its composition and instructions.
  6. During the procedure, a slight tingling sensation may occur. Severe pain and burning are an abnormal reaction, signaling a burn. In this case, you should immediately remove the applied product and wash your face.
  7. Epidermal tissues that have been subjected to aggressive acid attack are in a weakened state for some time, and regeneration processes are activated in them. Therefore, you should not touch your face with your fingers for several days after the procedure.
  8. Caring for cleansed skin involves the use of soft, moisturizing preparations based on natural ingredients. The composition should not contain acids, synthetic substances, fragrances, or abrasives.
  9. After home peeling, scrubbing is strictly prohibited. It will not speed up the departure of the old epidermis, but will only lead to the appearance of scars.
  10. You should only buy peeling preparations in stores. Market goods, as well as those bought secondhand, are rarely of good quality. Preference should be given to well-known and proven brands.

Peeling with calcium chloride. Facial peeling with calcium chloride at home

Calcium chloride in ampoules
Peeling with calcium chloride is good because it can be done for any skin type. In addition, allergies to the substance are very rare.

  • ampoule with calcium chloride is opened
  • a cotton pad is soaked in the product
  • The product is applied in several stages to the entire face, except for the upper lip and area around the eyes
  • when the contents of the ampoule are exhausted, the face should be washed with warm water, but not wiped
  • When the moisture is absorbed into the skin, apply moisturizer

The essence of the procedure

Facial peeling is a cosmetic procedure, the essence of which is to remove various impurities from the skin, the stratum corneum of the epidermis and excess secretion of the sebaceous glands.

What types of facial peeling are there?

Depending on the method of exposure to the skin, there are different types of facial peeling, the most popular of which are:

  • Enzyme peeling for face. The active substances of this procedure are enzymes.
  • Acid peeling for the face, popular varieties of which are milk, fruit, glycolic, almond, salicylic and retinoic peels. This is one of the most common types of peeling, which can be done independently at home without any problems. Facial cleansing occurs thanks to organic acids.
  • Peeling roll for face with calcium chloride. This method of skin cleansing is based on the use of a calcium chloride solution, which effectively cleanses the face of impurities, as if rolling them off (hence the name – peeling roll).
  • Carbon peeling for face. Its essence lies in combining the beneficial properties of carbon nanogel applied to the skin with the cleansing effect of a laser.
  • Ultrasonic facial peeling. The procedure is based on the careful and careful removal of keratinized epidermal cells using ultrasonic waves.

  • Diamond peeling for face. The procedure is carried out using a vacuum apparatus with a special attachment containing diamond nanoparticles, also called diamond dust. By rotating, the nozzle cleanses the skin, and dirt and dead cells are removed from the surface by vacuum.

Important! Before applying any mask to your face, check whether you are allergic to it. To do this, apply the composition to the bend of your elbow or neck. If there are no negative reactions in the form of tingling, burning or redness, then you can safely apply the mask to your face, except for your lips and the area around your eyes.

And depending on the depth of impact they distinguish:

  • superficial peeling for the face - affects only the epidermis from its granular to the stratum corneum;
  • medium peeling for the face - affects not only the epidermis, but also the papillary layer of the dermis;
  • deep peeling for the face - affects the epidermis and the main part of the dermis, namely its reticular layer.
