Forehead lift from the best plastic surgeon in Moscow

Forehead and eyebrow lifting (brow lifting) is one of those plastic surgeries whose popularity is growing from year to year. The fact is that in many cases this plastic surgery allows not only to rejuvenate the face, but also to make it more beautiful, optimistic and positive.

Wrinkles on your forehead and a look from under furrowed eyebrows make you look older; you look eternally dissatisfied and tired. A forehead and eyebrow lift is performed precisely to solve this problem. The cause of drooping eyebrows can be not only age-related changes, but also congenital characteristics. Lifting the upper area of the face will also partially eliminate eyelid ptosis and give you youth and attractiveness.

If necessary, browlifting can be performed “without incisions” (see “endoscopic facelift, forehead and eyebrow lift”). “Double surgeries” are in great demand: joint forehead surgery, eyebrow lifting and upper eyelid lifting (blepharoplasty). Such “double operations” are performed quite often in our clinic. They do not just remove excess skin in one area, but allow, by consistently eliminating age-related changes, to restore the image of a youthful face.

To find out what kind of correction you need, sign up for an in-person consultation with a plastic surgeon, Ph.D. Ekaterina Sergeevna Kudinova (we recommend taking your old favorite photographs with you).

Do you need a forehead and brow lift?

A forehead and brow lift can be recommended for both women and men. The main indications include:

  • Ptosis (“sliding” of tissues) of the eyebrows, which visually adds age;
  • Horizontal wrinkles on the forehead and vertical wrinkles on the bridge of the nose, so-called “wrinkles of anxiety”;
  • Wrinkles between the eyebrows are “wrinkles of anger”;
  • Ptosis of the upper eyelids caused by changes in the position of the eyebrows;
  • Drooping eyebrows causing vision problems;
  • Drooping of the outer corners of the eyes and/or eyebrows;
  • Wrinkles in the corners of the eyes are “crow’s feet”.

Consultation and diagnostics

Most often, indications for isolated forehead skin tightening occur at a relatively young age in patients whose individual characteristics are developing processes of tissue drooping, starting from the upper third of the face. Since at the age of 40-45 years and later, as a rule, there are already grounds for a facelift at all levels.

  • Excess skin of the upper eyelid By examining the upper eyelids during a consultation, the surgeon determines which part of the problems is due to apparent excess skin (corrected by forehead lift) and which part is true (corrected by eyelid surgery).
  • Wrinkles between the eyebrows These pronounced wrinkles between the eyebrows can cause an angry expression on the face. Forehead surgery allows you to access the glabella muscle and eliminate its tension.
  • Wrinkles on the forehead Strongly developed forehead muscles lead to the fact that horizontal wrinkles on the forehead begin to form quite early. In order to prevent their formation, modern patients, already at the age of 25, resort to preventive measures in the form of injection therapy. At the same time, it is impossible to completely avoid the appearance of horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, and with age their presence becomes quite noticeable. Forehead lifting lifts the eyebrows and relieves tension in the muscles, thereby helping to smooth out horizontal wrinkles and remove a tired expression.
  • Eyebrow position There are two reasons for low eyebrow position - age and heredity. Anatomically, the eyebrow is divided into three parts - the inner, body and tail. As a rule, when correcting the position of the eyebrow, we are talking about tightening (lifting) its outer part. The causes of ptosis (the process of lowering down) of the outer part of the eyebrow are associated primarily with the loss of tissue volume, and secondly directly with weakening and sagging of the skin and muscles. Depending on the indications, to effectively solve the problem of eyebrow ptosis, the patient may be offered a lift, lipofilling, temporolift (temporolift), or a combination of procedures.

During the consultation, Dr. Grishkyan will assess the bone structure of your face, the position of the eyebrows, eyelids, eye aesthetics, and the condition of the skin - its structure, thickness and elasticity. This information will make it possible to create an individual plan for surgical correction of the forehead and eyebrows , compiled just for you. Sometimes, to achieve a more harmonious appearance of the entire face, the procedure can be performed in combination with other aesthetic procedures, such as lipofilling or blepharoplasty.

What will brawling give you?

A forehead and brow lift can:

  • Make your face look younger and more optimistic;
  • Free you from an angry facial expression, tired eyes and frowning brows;
  • Remove deep wrinkles on the forehead, bridge of the nose and around the eyes (crow's feet);

Depending on the goals of the correction, a forehead and eyebrow lift can be performed as an independent plastic surgery or in conjunction with blepharoplasty and a face and neck lift. Such simultaneous (one-stage) surgery is usually required to achieve maximum effect and ensure a natural appearance of a youthful face.

Before and After Results of FOREHEAD AND EYEBROW LIFT View now

Coronary lift (open front lift)

Coronal lift has long been considered the “gold standard” of plastic surgery for this anatomical region, but recently it is recommended to be performed only on patients with severe wrinkles on the forehead, severe ptosis of the eyebrows, and excessive overhang of skin in the glabella area.

Forehead and eyebrow lifting using the open coronary lift method is performed under general anesthesia.

The operation is traumatic, since all soft tissues are affected, including the periosteum. The duration of plastic surgery is 1-2 hours. After a thorough examination, your doctor will recommend one of three possible incisions: standard, modified, or hairline incision.

Standard

This lift option is indicated for patients who need to straighten the proportions of the head. The essence of the method is to carry out a bicoronal incision made directly behind the hairline (at a distance of 8 cm) from the forehead to the auricle on both sides, followed by tension and excision of excess skin. The incision has a zigzag shape, which allows the scar to be almost invisible. The standard incision is not suitable for patients with a high forehead, as the hairline moves back several centimeters.

Modified

The modified incision has a slightly different direction: starting near the temporal region, it bends in the forehead, follows the hairline and returns to the temple. With this incision option, the width of the forehead after surgery can be reduced by lowering the hairline.

Incision along the marginal hairline

An incision along the marginal growth line is best suited for patients with receding hairlines in the forehead and temple area, as well as with a high forehead, since the height of the forehead does not change after surgery.

The essence of the method is to excise a strip of skin 1-2 cm wide, after which sutures or staples are applied, which are removed 10-12 days after the operation. Immediately after the plastic surgery, drainage is installed.

Types of coronal incision

The main advantage of the method is the long-term preservation of the result and the absence of noticeable scars. In addition to the obvious advantages of eyebrow and forehead lifting using the coronal lift method, there are a number of its significant disadvantages:

  • violation of the usual facial proportions due to changes in the marginal hairline;
  • a high level of tissue trauma during surgery and a high risk of complications after it is performed;
  • possible numbness of the plastic surgery site for six months;
  • impaired hair growth in the incision area;
  • long rehabilitation.

Coronary forehead lift method

How is browlifting performed?

Typically this correction takes 1-2 hours. More time may be required if lifting is performed in conjunction with other plastic surgeries, such as blepharoplasty. The clinic of plastic surgeon Ekaterina Sergeevna Kudinova uses various methods of forehead and eyebrow lifting, including:

  • A forehead lift using a coronal approach is the most effective method used for significant age-related changes in the upper third of the face. Lifting the forehead and eyebrow tissue is performed through an incision in the scalp. In this case, excess skin is excised, and the raised eyebrows are securely fixed in the correct position. The post-operative scar on the head will be reliably hidden by the hair, and the traces of the plastic surgery performed on the forehead and eyebrows will be completely invisible! Such operations are often combined with a face and neck lift.
  • Endoscopic forehead and eyebrow lift is a minimally invasive technique that is suitable for patients with not too pronounced age-related changes. In this case, the lift is carried out through several small punctures (no incisions!) using microsurgical instruments and a special micro-camera (endoscope).
  • Eyebrow lift using the author's technique. This type of surgery is indicated for patients with ptosis of the lateral (outer) eyebrow. The incision is made along the edge of the eyebrow hairline. For some patients, this method is preferable because the operation lifts the outer corner of the eyebrow without raising the inner part. When carrying out this type of correction, it is very important that the postoperative scar is not noticeable. For this, a special technique of applying invisible sutures is used (the author’s method of Dr. Kudinova).

In addition, our practice uses other technologies for correcting the upper area of the face, including: temporal lift, forehead lift with an incision along the hairline, transpalpebral lift (brow lift through the upper eyelid).

Our goal is to obtain the best result using minimally invasive means, to achieve preservation of individual facial features and not leave visible traces of the plastic surgeon’s work. Therefore, the tightening method is selected individually for each patient.

Types of correction

Surgery for a forehead lift and brow lift is performed when age-related changes become too noticeable. The second reason is obvious aesthetic defects.

The method of performing the operation is determined taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient’s body. His personal preferences are also taken into account.

Depending on the severity of the aging process and the presence of indications for correction of the upper third of the face, the doctor offers the following types of lifting:

  • thread;
  • coronary;
  • endoscopic;
  • with endotins;
  • temporal;
  • transpalpebral.

Let's look at each of these varieties in more detail.

Thread lifting

A couple of decades ago, a low-traumatic rejuvenation technique was developed - lifting sagging and wrinkled foreheads and eyebrows with threads. It is effective when the skin is not yet very stretched.

The operation allows you to quickly remove facial wrinkles on the forehead, bridge of the nose and in the area around the eyes, and raise the eyebrows. Thanks to this, the shape of the upper third of the face is restored, the gaze opens and becomes more expressive.

At the first meeting with the doctor, it is advisable to clearly explain what effect you would like to achieve. Then computer modeling of the face is carried out. Based on the finished model, it is calculated how many threads are required and their locations are determined.

From 4 to 10 threads can be introduced into the forehead and temporal region. The cost of the procedure directly depends on their quantity.

Today many varieties of threads are produced. Forehead lifts are most often performed by:

  • non-absorbable - products of the Aptos brand, as well as gold and platinum;
  • dissolving – mesothread (3D thread);
  • gradually disappearing over a long period of time - Tissulift;
  • cone-shaped combined ones - “Silhouette elevator soft”.

Lifting of sagging eyebrows and forehead is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. Applying markings indicating the location of the threads.
  2. Thorough cleansing of the forehead skin, treatment with an antiseptic.
  3. Application of local anesthesia.
  4. Subcutaneous injection, tightening and securing of the selected type of threads.
  5. Tightening and securing the frame material.
  6. Removing ends.
  7. Repeated treatment with antiseptic.

Elastic threads are inserted under the skin using a thin needle. Therefore, after the procedure there are completely no scars.

You can go home 30-50 minutes after the procedure. Before releasing the patient, the doctor must give recommendations for the rehabilitation period.

Coronary lift

The coronal lift has long been considered a classic plastic correction of the upper third of the face. But today it is recommended only for deep wrinkles on the forehead, severe ptosis of the eyebrows and excessive sagging of the skin above the bridge of the nose.

Lifting the forehead and eyebrows in this way is performed under general anesthesia. This surgical method is quite traumatic, because it affects all soft tissues, including the periosteum.

The duration of such plastic surgery is from 1 to 2 hours. After a detailed examination, the doctor will offer one of three incision options. The latter can be standard, modified (allows you to make the width of the forehead smaller) and along the marginal hairline.

Endoscopic front lift

An endoscopic forehead and eyebrow lift involves the same preparatory steps as a thread lift. It is carried out using a special device - an endoscope, which is inserted under the skin through small incisions.

After the procedure, 3-4 small scars about 1.5 cm long remain. They are made along the hairline, so they will be completely invisible.

Unlike thread lifting, endoscopic brow and forehead lifting allows you to affect not only the skin, but also the muscles. Therefore, the effect is better and lasts longer.

Such an adjustment can remove even deep expression wrinkles and visually rejuvenate the face by 5-10 years. Frontal lifting is performed under intravenous, rarely under general anesthesia. Lasts from 1 to 2 hours.

The technique of the operation is as follows:

  • Cleansing the forehead skin, applying markings.
  • Treatment of the forehead with an antiseptic, application of anesthesia.
  • Making incisions for the endoscope.
  • Insertion of endoscope, forehead lift.
  • Sutures, wound treatment.

Endolifting is a virtually bloodless procedure. Complications are extremely rare. No hospital stay is required. You can go home 2-3 hours after the tightening.

Lifting using endotins

Eyebrow and forehead lifting using endotins is an endoscopic method for correcting the upper third of the face. Therefore, it has almost no contraindications.

This technique involves installing extremely thin plates with immobilizer guide pins through mini-incisions. Approximately 6 months after surgery, endotins disappear, and the collagen fibers formed in their place provide a long-lasting lifting effect.

The main advantages of this type of plastic surgery:

  • clear and reliable fixation of the plates;
  • minimizing the risk of complications;
  • brief rehabilitation.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Its duration is 30 minutes. Today this method of forehead and eyebrow correction is the most popular, as it is practically free of disadvantages.

Temporal brow lift

This type of lifting is done under both local and general anesthesia. The choice of anesthesia method remains with the doctor. It takes into account all the characteristics of the patient’s body and the upcoming surgical intervention.

The lift is carried out as follows. The surgeon makes an incision at the temple and removes excess skin. With this manipulation, the outer corners of the eyes should rise, wrinkles should be smoothed out, and the cheekbone area should be tightened. The intervention lasts no more than 45 minutes.

Temporal eyebrow lifting is a very convenient operation. It can be combined with other cosmetic and plastic procedures.

This method of eyebrow and forehead correction is low-impact and highly effective. It has almost no disadvantages or contraindications. Therefore, it has gained high popularity among patients visiting aesthetic medicine clinics.

Transpalpebral surgery

This type of correction is done under general anesthesia. Duration – no more than an hour.

The surgeon cuts the thickness of the fold of the upper eyelid and stretches the skin. He then partially removes muscle and excess fat tissue. As a result, wrinkle furrows in the forehead area and above the bridge of the nose are smoothed out. The post-operative scar is perfectly camouflaged.

The effect of such plastic surgery is comparable only to Botox injections. The only difference is that after transpalpebral lifting it lasts a lifetime.

The obvious advantages of the method (speed of results, minimization of complications) make it possible to recommend it to all patients who need correction of the forehead and eyebrows.

Rehabilitation after a forehead lift

After the operation, the patient remains under observation in the hospital until the next morning. In the first days you need to wear a special compression bandage. During this period, the patient may experience some discomfort and a feeling of “tightness”. Swelling and bruising will subside within 10 days after surgery. To make rehabilitation faster and easier, special procedures may be recommended to the patient.

The duration of your rehabilitation will depend on the extent of the operation and the chosen technique for lifting the forehead and eyebrows. Recovery can last from 7 days to 3 weeks. In the first few days after a forehead and eyebrow lift, you must be careful: you should not sharply tilt or turn your head, you must follow a gentle regimen and avoid physical activity.

Preparing for surgery

Before the procedure, a small examination is required to identify contraindications. If all the tests are good, the doctor will set a date for the lift.

The patient will also need to follow simple instructions:

  1. For 3 weeks before “day X”, do not smoke or drink alcohol.
  2. The diet (especially strict) should be stopped 14 days before surgery. You can’t cut down on your diet in the first days after a facelift. Drastic weight loss will reduce the result to zero.
  3. The intake of any medications (in particular those affecting hematopoiesis) should be adjusted together with the doctor.
  4. On the day of surgery, you must take the prescribed antibiotics and antiviral medications. This is necessary to minimize the risk of complications.
  5. In the morning before lifting, remove hair in the places where the incisions will be made.

Do you need the best specialist to perform a forehead and brow lift?

Plastic surgeon Kudinova is one of the most famous and respected professionals in the field of facial plastic surgery. This is a doctor of the highest category, a candidate of medical sciences, who has been specializing in the field of facial plastic surgery for more than 15 years. She has developed her own methods and techniques for browlifting.

One of the main advantages of Kudinova’s original plastic surgery is delicacy. Forehead and eyebrow lifting operations performed by Ekaterina Sergeevna give an excellent and very natural result. They do not change individual features, but return the face to its former youthful appearance. Particular attention is always paid to ensure that traces of plastic surgery cannot be noticed. Such results are achieved through the use of the author’s methods of subperiosteal (deep) forehead lift and “invisible seam” technology.

Brow lift with an incision above the eyebrow

A brow lift with an incision above the eyebrow is an outdated technique and is rarely performed due to its high morbidity. The incision is made above the eyebrow and leaves a fairly noticeable scar. Suitable for older patients or patients with a low and wrinkled forehead, in whom such a scar may not be noticeable.

The advantage of a brow lift with an incision above the eyebrow is only one: the operation is performed under local anesthesia.

This technique has a high potential for creating an unnatural, surprised look and does not have the longest lasting effect.

Temporal brow lift method

The operation can be performed either under local anesthesia or general anesthesia. The method of anesthesia is determined by the doctor, taking into account all the characteristics of the patient and the upcoming procedure, which usually lasts no more than 45 minutes. The method is based on making incisions in the temple area and excision of excess skin. Thanks to this method, wrinkles are smoothed out, the outer corners of the eyes are lifted, and the cheekbone area is tightened. Eyebrow correction using the temporal lift method can be combined with other cosmetic and plastic procedures.

The temporal lift is a low-impact and highly effective operation, and also has virtually no disadvantages or contraindications, therefore it is widespread among patients in aesthetic medicine clinics.

Eyebrow lifting with threads and Botox

A brow lift with threads is performed to remove the signs of aging. It is indicated for loss of skin elasticity, to restore the oval line. The use of threads, like eyebrow lifting with Botox, is a gentle way to restore the shape of the arches and get rid of wrinkles.

Brow lifting with threads allows you to create a new frame. The recovery period is relatively short, and the results last a long time. It is possible to lift only the eyebrows or the entire oval; it is used to correct the décolleté area.

@ glory.clinic

The procedure is performed under general or local anesthesia. The appropriate method is determined by the doctor individually. Threads are inserted under the skin, which provide a lifting effect and smooth out creases on the forehead. The face becomes more open and expressive.

This type of intervention assumes the preservation of facial expressions. You can tighten not only the arches, but also the upper eyelids. Folds on the forehead and wrinkles under the eyes are removed. This method is invasive and is used to correct the eyelids.

Used for age-related changes. The method is used to restore the oval, arches, and correct drooping eyelids. It is not effective for skin diseases or large pores.

There are several types of threads that are used. Smooth threads - made from materials that do not dissolve - silicone, polyamide. Mesothreads are absorbed in tissues, as they are of biological origin. Combined threads lead to the longest lasting results - about 7 years.

Non-surgical effect

It should immediately be noted that non-surgical treatment as a method of lifting the upper part of the face is ineffective. All types of massage, heating and injections to enhance collagen production give a minimal effect, which will only be good as a preventive measure for ptosis of the forehead skin and drooping eyebrows. The following procedures fall into this category:

  • Biorevitalization. It is an injection of hyaluronic acid that restores the water balance of the skin. Helps moisturize and slow down age-related changes.
  • Mesotherapy. It is an injection of multicomponent compositions for the purpose of nutrition, moisturizing and increasing local immunity of the skin. They improve skin tone and slow down the development of ptosis.
  • Botox. Intramuscular injections of botulinum toxin type A, which help eliminate folds and wrinkles, as well as moderate ptosis. The principle of action is based on temporary paralysis of the muscles responsible for contracting the skin of the forehead.
  • Hardware massages. Most often they are practiced using vacuum or ultrasound. The purpose of this effect is to increase blood circulation, lymph flow, and supply cells with nutrients and oxygen. Positive changes consist in optimizing internal processes that provoke fibroblasts to accelerate the synthesis of collagen and increase the elasticity of the skin.
  • Light exposure. This area includes procedures such as laser peeling, fractional thermolysis and photorejuvenation. They differ in wavelength and type of radiation, the size of the area covered, but the operating principle itself is almost the same. The emitted light is absorbed by the skin and converted into heat, which stimulates an increase in the amount of collagen responsible for skin tone and elasticity.
  • Radio wave exposure. A procedure called thermage is carried out using safe radio wave radiation. It is able to penetrate soft tissues without violating their integrity and compact collagen fibers, thereby increasing the elasticity of the skin, as well as stimulating the formation of a tightening effect.

Botulinum toxin injection

All procedures of this kind are carried out in a course, have a short rehabilitation period and a minimum of complications, the effect of their implementation is weak and is not able to eliminate severe forehead ptosis. Before carrying out them, individual contraindications to each method of exposure should be taken into account. For example, hardware techniques are prohibited in the presence of embedded pacemakers.

The cost of injections and hardware massage ranges around 2,000 rubles per session; professional procedures based on laser or radio waves cost 2-3 times more.

Transpalpebral eyebrow lifting

In addition to temporal eyebrow lifting, transpalpebral fixation can be used. Lifting is carried out through the upper eyelid, allowing you to remove the drooping angle of the arch from the outside.

By lifting the arches in this way, you can avoid the appearance of scars. The operation can be performed simultaneously with eyelid surgery. The disadvantage of the intervention is that only the upper part of the arch rises, while the middle and inner ones remain at the same level.

The technique is used for those who do not need to remove excess skin, but only need to raise the growth line of the arches. In modern surgery, manipulation is carried out using incisions that are located in the fold of the upper eyelid. Stitches are often removed after 4 to 12 days.

Contraindications to forehead reduction and plastic surgery

Before performing frontoplasty, a full examination and consultation with a plastic surgeon is necessary to exclude possible contraindications. This is important to avoid complications and irreversible changes after the intervention. Thus, the operation is not performed if:

  • this is a patient under 18 years of age;
  • there are chronic diseases in the stage of exacerbation or decompensation;
  • HIV infection or oncology is detected;
  • Frontal sinusitis (inflammation of the frontal sinus) was detected.

If the development of the facial skeleton is not yet complete, there are skin problems in the operation area, serious illnesses have worsened, there are signs of ARVI or general malaise; during pregnancy and lactation, the operation will be temporarily postponed.
