Facial contouring - injections with fillers based on hyaluronic acid or other drugs. Injections correct skin imperfections and increase volume. An injection method of rejuvenation and correction of imperfections without surgical intervention. The most commonly used fillers are those based on hyaluronic acid. The natural product helps get rid of wrinkles on the face, as well as make lips or cheekbones more expressive and sensual. Let's learn more about the effect of facial contouring?
Benefits of contouring
Modern cosmetology makes it possible to eliminate facial imperfections without surgical intervention. Special injections reduce the depth of wrinkles, add volume to the lips and cheekbones, and restore elasticity to the oval of the face. And all this thanks to the use of fillers.
The process of injecting fillers under the skin takes several minutes, and the injections themselves are almost painless. In rare cases, slight bruising may be observed at the injection sites. The main advantage of contouring is that it is possible to restore missing volumes or eliminate wrinkles in different areas simultaneously.
Types of filler injection techniques
Several techniques for introducing fillers have been developed for contouring various zones or areas of the face and body. Our clinic specialists use the main ones:
- Linear-retrograde technique of contouring with fillers – for the lower third of the face. A very thin, sharp needle is inserted parallel to the skin and, as it is withdrawn, the filler is squeezed into the correction area. This method is used to fill deep wrinkles and creases, as well as wrinkles above the upper lip and the lips themselves.
- Fan contouring technique with fillers for the oval of the face - bioreinforcement. From one point, the drug is administered along lines diverging in different directions. In appearance they resemble a fan. In this way, the deficiency of the missing volume of facial tissue is compensated.
- Bolus contouring technique. The needle pierces the skin perpendicular to its surface, the filler is injected supraperiostally (periosteal). This technique is used to increase the volume of the cheekbones and chin, as well as to correct the nasolacrimal groove and nasal wrinkles.
- Grid technique. The gel is administered during the contouring procedure in the form of linear injections intersecting at an angle of 90 degrees. This technique is used to correct wrinkles in the facial area: on the cheeks, filling nasolabial folds, forehead wrinkles, marionette lines.
- Single injection technique (using a cannula). The filler is introduced into the correction area from one injection point using a microcannula. The cannula is a very thin, flexible tube with holes on the sides and a blunt tip. This design avoids damage to soft tissues and minimizes pain. Thanks to its flexibility, the cannula moves tissues apart and bends around vessels without injuring them.
Contour plastic with fillers, performed using the cannula technique, is ideal for procedures performed in hard-to-reach and sensitive areas, such as the neck, brow ridge, temples, cheekbones, bridge of the nose and the area around the eyes. This method of administration makes it possible to most accurately distribute the gel filler in the tissues, which allows you to achieve the most natural contours.
Benefits of contouring
- Safety. Hyaluronic acid gels are biologically inert preparations of non-animal origin that do not cause allergic reactions and are absolutely compatible with the tissues of the human body;
- The result of aesthetic correction made with gel fillers is visible immediately;
- The rejuvenation effect after contouring is as natural as possible;
- The procedure does not require anesthesia, unlike plastic surgery;
- No scars or marks on the skin;
- A large amount of work can be done in one contouring procedure - for example, increasing the volume of the lips, eliminating deep wrinkles and emphasizing the cheekbones;
- There is no rehabilitation period. Slight swelling is possible for 2-3 days;
- The result lasts up to 12-18 months, and the use of some drugs helps to extend it up to three to four years.
Preparation for the procedure
Before contouring, a consultation with a doctor is required, during which the following aspects are discussed:
- Patient expectations;
- History - has the client ever resorted to contouring, and if so, what medications were used;
- Features of the upcoming technique and, as a result, the possibility of achieving the desired result;
- Presence of contraindications;
- Selecting the required one or more drugs.
The day before injections with hyaluronic acid fillers, you must refrain from drinking alcohol and heavy physical activity.
Indications for the procedure
- Aesthetic correction of natural contours and facial features - increasing the volume and correcting the shape of lips, cheekbones, cheeks, etc.;
- Correction of age-related skin changes - filling deep facial wrinkles, eliminating nasolacrimal grooves, restoring facial oval, replenishing lost volume, etc.;
- Correction of deep dystrophic scars and scars.
Contraindications for procedures
- Acute diseases and chronic pathologies during periods of exacerbation or decompensation.
- The presence of inflammatory elements in the area of the proposed intervention.
- The presence of other types of fillers in the correction area.
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Taking antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants.
How does the contouring procedure work?
- The skin is cleansed with a special product.
- The doctor marks the areas where the drug will be administered and marks the puncture points of the skin with a special pencil.
- To reduce the feeling of discomfort before contouring, application anesthesia is used - the injection site is lubricated with an anesthetic cream (if the filler contains an anesthetic, such precautions are not required)
- The packaging of the drug is opened in the presence of the client. At the same time, you have the opportunity to get acquainted with information about the name of the drug, expiration date and its serial number.
- The specialist then injects the filler according to the chosen technique, using a syringe or cannula.
- After administration, the doctor evenly distributes the drug in the dermal tissues using massage movements for its proper distribution.
After the filler injection procedure
The aesthetic result depends on the initial objectives:
- Small wrinkles disappear, deep creases and folds are smoothed out.
- Facial features take on the desired shape. The lips become fuller, the chin becomes larger (important for men), the bridge of the nose is straightened, etc.
- The effect of age-related ptosis (tissue drooping) is eliminated.
- Visible signs of skin rejuvenation appear.
The final result from the injection of filler can be assessed 1-2 weeks after the procedure, when the drug is finally distributed in the tissues - photos before and after facial contouring show impressive results.
If necessary, the result of the procedure can be corrected by introducing an additional dose of filler, or reducing its volume by introducing enzymes that hydrolyze hyaluronic acid.
To ensure that the drug is distributed evenly and does not undergo fragmented degeneration, after the procedure you should not sunbathe, visit the bathhouse or solarium for two weeks. It is also recommended to exclude sports activities for three days and refuse massage. You can use decorative cosmetics the very next day.
Repeated facial skin contouring with fillers is indicated after the drug has been absorbed. The speed of this process depends on the characteristics of the gel, the area being corrected, and the individual characteristics of the body.
THREE reasons why you should come to our clinic for contour plastic surgery with fillers:
- We place high qualification requirements on specialists, which is why we have a professional team of experienced doctors who are masters of all filler injection techniques and have many rave reviews.
- We use only drugs certified in the Russian Federation, proven by experience and time. You can view the list of fillers for contour plastic surgery in the Brands and Preparations section of the website.
- We are a division of a government agency, so our prices for contouring procedures are significantly lower than those of similar commercial structures.
From the Negative side of the procedure.
In some cases, people may experience allergic reactions to synthetic compounds in injected medications. The professionalism of the cosmetologist also plays a big role in the final result.
Another negative side is the short-lived effect of the procedure. The results of its implementation are inconsistent; the filler is absorbed by the body only within 12-18 months. After this period, the effect of the drug completely disappears and patients require new injections.
How the model felt and looked during and after the procedure
The procedure lasted only 30 minutes, from consultation to the final treatment of the face with an antiseptic. The model noted the sensations during the procedure (at the moments of drug administration) as tolerable. Before starting the procedure, the doctor warned about the possibility of small bruises in the injection area, which will disappear after seven days. Immediately after the injection of the drug, there was a very slight redness on the skin around the injection points, but after a few minutes the complexion evened out and the skin looked fresh. At the end of the procedure, there were no negative effects left on the model’s skin (in the form of hyperemia, bruises or noticeable marks from injections).
Immediately after the administration of the drug, the following changes were noticeable: the chin looked clearer and more noticeable, the lower part of the face became visually lighter. The oval of the face has become thinner and more regular. Slightly added volume in the cheekbone area shifted the emphasis from the lower third of the face to the middle third, resulting in a lifting effect.
The doctor noted that we observe the maximum effect of the procedure (the so-called peak effect) immediately after its completion, but the final result can be seen only after two weeks. During this time, the drug will be slightly distributed, taking a comfortable position in the tissues, and will provide us with the effect that we will observe for 12–15 months.
To obtain the most long-lasting effect, the doctor recommends a careful approach to the choice of cosmetic procedures, because any thermal procedures (for example, RF lifting, microcurrent or laser therapy) can shorten the life of fillers, as they increase blood flow, increase the activity of enzyme systems and contribute to accelerated removal of drug components. (A vacation spent at a hot resort under active ultraviolet rays can lead to the same result.)
The editors would like to express their gratitude to KEUNE HAIRCOSMETICS, which dyed and styled the model’s hair using KEUNE HAIRCOSMETICS brand products, as well as for makeup (working with hair - Victoria Kvaskova, international technologist at Keune Haircosmetics Russia, instructor-methodologist at the International School of Keune Design, product & cut - expert of the Keune Russia team; make-up - Natalya Smirnova, technologist of the company Keune Haircosmetics Russia, instructor-methodologist of the International School of Keune Design, product & cut, mua-expert of the Keune Russia team).
Cheekbone modeling
Instead of mandibuloplasty, there is surgery to install implants in the cheekbone area.
This is one of the most popular minimally invasive procedures today. Everyone does it: from 18 to 80 years old. (For comparison, mandibuloplasty can be performed no earlier than 23–25 years of age.) At a young age, people decide to undergo this procedure in order to achieve clearly defined cheekbones, like those of Instagram stars, and to make facial features more attractive. In adulthood - to tighten sagging tissues and thereby smooth out nasolabial folds, lift the corners of the lips, and restore the oval of the face. That is, correction of the zygomatic zone with filler alone can solve several problems at once!
Why we use Princess Volume fillers
In medical facial corrections, facial correction is done using Princess Volume fillers. Their advantages:
- the composition of the filler has virtually no contraindications;
- hyaluronic acid in the base of the injectable gel increases skin elasticity, makes it elastic and fresh, intensively nourishes and moisturizes;
- Princess Volume is almost universal and suitable for oily and combination skin;
- filler components have optimal consistency and viscosity, which allows the cosmetologist to create perfect facial features;
- Princess Volume effectively copes with skin defects and fatty tissue, replenishing volume where it is most needed;
- The filler composition successfully fights deep wrinkles.
Fillers based on hyaluronic acid have proven themselves to be the safest and most effective means of plastic surgery without surgery.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty
Instead of surgical rhinoplasty
Today, those with small humps and flat noses only need to spend half an hour visiting a cosmetologist to get the perfect profile. Fillers can smooth out unevenness and correct the shape: for example, make the bridge of the nose higher and thinner. Of course, only a plastic surgeon can make the nose significantly smaller or straighten a deviated septum for normal breathing. But if you are concerned about small aesthetic imperfections, we recommend that you first contact a cosmetologist. During a personal consultation, they will tell you what is best to do.
Indications for facial contouring
Contour plastic surgery is performed when there are obvious signs of chronoaging of facial tissues:
- “Floating” oval of the face in the temporal, zygomatic and chin areas;
- Gravitational ptosis of the skin along the contour of the lower jaw;
- Age-related “jowls”;
- Double chin;
- Nasolabial and labiomental folds;
- Nasolacrimal grooves (“dips” in the malar zone, creating the visual effect of swelling of the lower eyelid);
- Deep wrinkles of surprise and anger on the forehead and bridge of the nose;
- Depletion of subcutaneous fat in the eyelids and cheeks.
The procedure is also used for:
- Creating or recreating seductive fullness of lips;
- Contouring the red border and lifting the corners of the mouth;
- Cheek lifts;
- Straightening the back of the nose with a hump or pits (no more than 3-5 mm in height or depth);
- Chin augmentation;
- Correction of the shape of the ears and earlobes;
- Neutralization of facial asymmetry and disproportions.
Chin shape correction
Instead of mentoplasty - an operation to install cartilage or silicone implants in the chin area, fillers can easily change the shape of the chin - visually lengthen or widen it, hide imperfections. But lipolytic meso-cocktails, which break down accumulated fat while tightening the skin, will help get rid of a double chin.
Despite all the advantages, there are a number of contraindications:
- Under 18 years of age without guardian consent
- Pregnancy and lactation; Oncology
- Autoimmune diseases in aggravated form
- The final decision remains with the attending physician
- Inflammation of the skin at the injection site
- ARVI
- Tendency to form keloid scars
- Allergy to components of the products
- Bleeding disorders
For an ideal result and to avoid negative consequences, consultation with a competent specialist will help!
If side effects do not go away within 7 days, you should contact a cosmetologist who performed contouring.
Remember that you must approach the choice of a clinic and specialist with all responsibility.
